This is a Prima Flowers Swap, it's pretty easy to do, so anyone can participate! :flower: The rules are really simple:

You pick your color and give each person a certain amount of each flower. All you have to do is put each person's in a small baggie and write color, group number and your user name on the outside. That is it!

Because there are different sizes of flowers, we've come up with a "scale" of sorts. (I stole this from another board. ) 30 Small, 20 Medium or 10 Large. I have no problem with mixing and matching sizes, just make sure it is pretty much equal, so it's fair - for example, one "milkbottle" split between the group is fine.

I'll start out with three groups of 10. If you want more, I'll open more!

Due Date is May 24. Mailing Date is May 10 - remember it takes about 2 weeks from you to me! I aim to mail 30 May, but if I get everyone's before, I'll send them out! I will reuse your packaging if possible - the priority envelopes generally survive OK, please remember to complete a customs form showing a value of UNDER £17 before/at mailing or USPS will return it to you. Return postage will be about $7 for 2-3 groups(if you only have one group it will be about $4) - I've found the easiest thing is to slip cash $ in with the swap (no cheques or money orders please as it costs £25 to cash them :scared1: ) And no pre-paid postage unless you have some UK stamps lying around:rotfl2:

I'll take two groups. One will be red but I don't know what style yet. I'm not sure what I'll do for the other.

Thanks, ma'am!

Thanks Mazda! I'll take one more in group 3 too...

Mazda, for sizes what would be considered small, medium and large? One web site describes small as 1/2 inch (1.5), med as 3/4 inch (approx 2 cm) and large as 1 to 1.5 inches ( 2.5-4cm)...

I'll join in 2 groups. I don'tr know what I am getting yet though.

Rebecca

Can I have a spot for me in each group and a spot for my friend, misplacedmidwestern, in two groups?

S :)

Tinkerbean - :confused3 Sounds OK to me. I asked Mickeyteacher for expert advice :thumbsup2 and she was very helpful. I'd suggest "average" size primas (like got flowers) are medium, smaller are small, a bit larger are large and what you are looking at are extra large.

The scale is just a guideline - I'd say any reasonable-sized manufacturer's pack, divided up between a group, is fine. If you get those fancy layered blossoms you would have to get two packs maybe to have one per person - htey come in different sizes from different manufacturers, so there's no right answer for this one I think! I've ordered primas before from UK suppliers thining they were a bargain and finding they'd split larger packs into smaller packs for UK "retail" - that's why I got mine for this swap from the US to be sure of getting a "proper" size pack.

I'm not sure if this is helpful - any expert assistance form experienced Prima swap hostesses? (And I thought this would be straightforward:lmao: )

I'd like to sign up for a spot in group 1 and 2. I don't know what color or type yet.

Also, my Mom will be in England on May 7 for 2 or 3 weeks (I can't remember) so I'm going to give these to her and have her mail them from my aunt's house. That should be quicker and less expensive I would think.

Thanks Mazda.

Ready for the stupid question of the day?

Do the flowers have to be made by Prima? Are other manufacturers okay?

OOO good question. I have seen some really pretty flowers made by other companies.

If other companies are acceptable, please put me down for two groups. One group will be mixed primas. One group other company.

I'm in, yay for a UK based swap!! I have so many teeny-tiny pink flowers I can swap out.

Hi MazdaUK!

Can I have a spot in all 3 groups please? I'll let you know what colors later. I'll have to go to my local LSS and see what she has available.

VickiV

The last Prima swap I was in basically had everyone buy a package and split them evenly amongst the group. With the medium "Got Flowers" each person in the group of 10 ended up with 14 flowers. The hard part with this is that some of the Prima packages only have 20 to 24 flowers in them so it's a hard rule of thumb. I like your measurements much better.

So it seems like my best bet would be to find a website that lists the number of flowers in the package. I don't thinkACMoore carries these. I don't know about Michaels.

DisneyIsTerriffic - yes, posting will be much cheaper that way. You can choose to pay the return in £ or $, but bear in mind we don't have £1 notes anymore so $$ are less likely to "show through" the package, IYSWIM ;-)

123SA probably one per group, though as others have said splitting 24 between 10 is a challenge!

Queenie - I've put you down for 1 group as you said your flowers were teeny, let me know if you want more.

Other brands welcome - Bazzil do some lovely stuff and I'm sure there's others we don't get here :goodvibes:

ETA: I've opened up a 4th group

I went to my LSS this morning and she didn't have any Primas, but I found some really pretty flowers from other brands. So, for my groups, I will be doing:

1. Creative Impressions - pastel colors - a mixture of small & medium sheer & iridescent flowers

2. A mixture of large, medium & small pink, hot pink, and lime flowers from Blue Hills Studio and Bazzill
