I own one of these and love it. Its my third travel scooter and the first one I have real trouble managing battery charges with. Its just under two years old but really I only use it for Disney holidays and shopping malls. Lately its not holding the charge very well but I cant work out if the batteries should be replaced or not its also taking about 15 hours to fully charge and then only holding a full charge for about half a mile before the bars start going down. Can anyone tell me if I should be replacing batteries? Never had this with a scooter before but in usage terms its proibably about 6 months old if you see what I mean. I really need to know as florida is looming when I am there for a month I would rather spend the money now in the uk than have a problem on holida
Any advice would be appreciated

Depending on how often you charge it, it is possible that you need to replace the battery. I'm fairly certain that mobility scooter batteries are deep-cycling batteries like powerchair batteries. What this means is that even if you're not using the scooter (or wheelchair), you need to charge the batteries every 2-4 weeks or so to keep the charge up. When you do use it, you should charge it completely after every use. Even when you're not using the scooter, the battery is slowly discharging a little. If you're going several months between use and not charging other than immediately after you use it, it may have reduced the battery capacity (which would be why it takes longer and doesn't hold as much charge). Also, if you use it somewhere long enough that you get really low and need to stop somewhere, but don't stay the hours and hours it takes to fully charge, you may also be shortening the battery life. How/where you store the batteries also makes a difference. If they ever get extremely cold or extremely hot that can also cause battery problems.

Did you buy your scooter directly from somewhere that you can call and see if they can have someone come and look at it? There is a chance it's a loose connector or a problem with the charger, but to me this does sound more like a battery problem. If you do have access to a technician who knows scooters, having them look would be good just in case it isn't, but if you don't have that access, a new battery is the first thing I can think of.

You can order a whole new battery pack. The company you buy it from will ship it t you. If you replace the batteries within the pack - they will probably be after market brands which need to be drilled at the top to fit.

They are $250 to $400 - depending on where you purchase them.

Dh left his sit for months between uses and I had to replace the battery. Purchased the larger battery 1800, and case from Spin Life for $300 free shipping. He has to understand use it or lose it on the battery. From now on all shopping trips it will go and around the outdoors to wear on the battery.

Our first use this year, he forgot the charger. We had to rent a charger for the week cruise.

I have been guilty of not charging between usage learned a lesson and getting someone out to get them changed over before I go away! Lesson learned
