Can someone please tell me why I love this movie so much? Is it because I'm a romantic at heart or just a loony-toon? I admit I must be a Jane Austin fan since I like Sense and Sensibility and Emma too, but P and P is now my favorite movie and I HAD to buy it.
Did you see it? What did you think?

It was okay, but can't compare to the A&E version with Colin Firth!
I love Colin Firth! But I liked this version of the story better.

I'm assuming you are talking about the Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy movie. Loved it!

But I've been a big Jane Austin fan for many years. High time they made decent movies of her books, IMHO.

This version was good, but the one scene they cut that I missed was the final scene where they finally declare their feelings. They really chopped that one down to nothing and I was really looking forward to that.

My favorite is still the A&E version, because Colin Firth is Hot

No, this one has Keira Knightley as Lizzie and Matthew MacFadyen as Darcy.
I think I prefer Keira to the actress in the A & E version too. But I still love Colin Firth.

I liked this version a lot, too, but Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy will always have my heart.

I was really surprised at how much I liked Donald Sutherland as Mr. Bennett.

I like Colin Firth, but I really loved Matthew MacFadyen as Mr. Darcy.

SSB was at premier at Toronto Film Festival last year, and liked it a LOT !

I like his voice. So deep but different tones. I liked the way his face changed from very hard in the beginning.
See? I've watched it WAY too many times! :lmao:

SSB has good taste. :thumbsup2 ;)

I loved it too! Apparently we're both romantic saps because Sense & Sensibility is another one of my favorite movies. Believe it or not, I was a bit disappointed in Emma.

I haven't seen the new one yet - though it has been on my Netflix forever - but I've heard really good things about it from my fellow P&P lovers. :thumbsup2

I didn't see it but plan to once it comes on satellite. I love Jane Austin (her characters are timeless). Emma was brillant and I suspect that P&P will be the same.

I understand, because I am a Pride and Prejudice lover too. It's my favorite book of "all time" and I've seen every movie/television version (including the black and white one from the 1930's and the Greer Garson/Laurence Olivier one from the early 1940's)!

The new one is "okay." Keira Knightly was great as Elizabeth. However, I very much prefer the BBC/A&E miniseries from the 90's because Colin Firth *IS* Mr. Darcy and Colin Firth is the hottest man on Earth. :lovestruc

I loved the cinematography of it-absolutely beautiful. However- Colin Firth rules-he's HOT!!! I could watch the A & E version again and again (and have!)!!

I agree with this very much.

I have not seen the A&E version, I will make it a point to watch.

I liked the new version, but I don't think it could even begin to compare to the A&E version. I was wondering how they would ever go about paring it down to just two hours, and the new version just seemed a little too "choppy" for me. No time to fully appreciate how annoying Mr. Collins was and just how embarrassing Mrs. Bennet and the younger sisters were :teeth: The part about Lydia and Mr. Wickham was pretty much glossed over too. If I hadn't read the book or seen the longer version, I would have been left with a lot of questions.

I agree with everyone else who said that no one can replace Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. Oh, and did anyone else hate the portrayal of Mr. Bingley? They made him into a blithering idiot!
