Prices just hit my threshold :-(

1.) I strongly disagree with your first statment. Are you a DVC Owner? DVC is designed to encourage you to spend the maximum amount of time in WDW each year - I'd guess in many cases our visits outnumber non-DVC guests 2-1. And no matter where you slice it...time spent in DVC= increased profits for WDW. Trust me... my bank account agrees.

2.) Now you say it's "ok" if people feel their $$ is better spent elsewhere? Because past posts have most certainly simply stated your excitment in hoping that these new changes now kept the riff-raff away from your family while on your "well -deserved because you're hard working" vacation.

And...for the record. Have you ever taken a TRUE luxury vacation?? I have...it's not WDW! LOL, I love WDW... but banjo playing animatronic bears, all you can eat fried chicken, and coconut races amongst toddlers is NOT a luxury vacation. If it is to YOU...that's great. Drop $10K/year on the family skillet...hey, ask for ketchup while you're at it! It's luxury at its finest!

My $10K vacations will not involve rubber bracelets or anything that has the word "frontier" in it.

1. My family is DVC owners and we are in the process of buying.

2. I've never said I was excited to keep "riffraff" away and I have never used that term or referred to anyone in that manner. My point all along has been that some people can't afford to go. Thats the way it is, no one is entitled to a vacation that costs thousands of dollars. Yes Ive worked hard and been successful and I am not ashamed of that. If people want to spend their money elsewhere go for it. But there have actually been people posting here and on other threads that everyone "deserves" to be able to go to Disney and Disney should make sure that its attainable for all, and I think that is a load of crap.

3. Luxury means different things to different people. I do happen to consider Disney a luxury vacation. I love everything about being at Disney, and I am never more relaxed when I am there. Give me Disney over an all-inclusive in the Caribbean sitting on a beach bored out of my mind vacation any day.

So now I'm rude and classist because I feel that I deserve a luxury vacation that I earned?

Adam
1.) No you're rude because the tone of your messages has been elitest and demeaning.
2.) Do you sincerely think Disney is a "luxury vacation"?? Is this only place you've been? I can't fathom how anyone could call it that?!

I really don't understand all of the people that hate on others for working hard to get where they are and making money. That is what we should be encouraging in society. Get out there, work hard, and better yourself.
You missed the point of my post. Another poster claimed they had to raise prices to keep up profits or they would slip. Disney has been killing it lately in regards to profits, and that is coming at our expense. I don't agree with many of the things Iger has done in the name of profits. Basically he puts profits ahead of good show for the guest so that his golden parachute will be the largest ever.

... Yes Ive worked hard and been successful and I am not ashamed of that. .

Yes, you've mentioned that 837 times so far. We get it. You work hard and you make alot of money. How that pertains to ANYTHING we're discussing is beyond me...but post a few more times mentioning it...some people may not have realized how much money you have yet.

I'll just go back to NOT working very hard for very little money now.....

None of the price changes here should have made this unattainable in 24 hours. If these increases were enough to put you over the breaking point, you've been right on the edge of it for a long time.
It's the constant price increases from park tickets, to food, to drink, to souvenirs, and so on. It's the cuts in service and maintenance. It's the continued degradation of the quality of cast members they are hiring in the name of cheap labor (aka the College Program). It's not just about another price increase.

The way I see it, none of these price increases affect my family other than having to wait less time in line due to the phasing out of some locals who crowd the parks.

Sounds like some first world problems.

People tend to forget how business have a margin of profit and when that margin is no longer there they have to increase prices.
LOL,
I live in the US and go to disney, yes it's first world.

What , I should let people rip me off because there are Syrian refugees?

I never understood how because it's a supposedly "first world' problem I should just accept it.

I wonder how many Disney employees that work hard every day can afford a Disney vacation?
And that right there is another reason I'm down on Disney. I really dislike the way they treat their employees and I feel that by me paying so much it's just going into profits. Well, how about spreading that down to the bottom of the employees that are on the front lines?

Ok, so how are you going to solve this "problem". Since Disney is not your company you have a few choices, if you feel it's too expensive you can complain about it online, hoping they will listen and change their mind which is pretty doubtful or you can stop going. When I feel someone is ripping me off I don't give them my money, I guess it's pretty black and white for me. If I get to the point where I don't feel that vacation at Disney is reasonable, I'll just stop going. I tend to speak with my wallet.

Why join a WDW message board if you don't feel that a complaint about WDW on a WDW message board is a good place to gripe about WDW?

And yes... I realize how repetitive that is :-)

Just an FYI Disney had 8 Billion in net income last year so I do not believe they are having an issue with their profit margins

They could afford to spread the love a little with their best guests the AP and DVC owners. I am not saying they will or that they have to, just that it would not hurt to have a surprise discount every year or so or notice of the changes before to assist those who already own. The notice could be for current owners of AP's or DVC so we could have purchased before the raise especially if you already booked Christmas this year
