Hello folks,
I was wondering how much grocery type stuff costs in the DVC stores. Is it marked way up like most other stuff at Disney or is it more reasonably priced for those of us who would be cooking in? Thanks for the info!

Not all that much different from anywhere else on Disney, maybe a tad cheaper, but no where near standard grocery store prices.

If you have a car with you, it is probably worth it to run down to a store and go shopping (off of Disney property). If you don't have a car, there are several grocery services that will deliver.

While this option will cost you more than shopping yourself, it's still usually cheaper than buying stuff at Disney.

Really, it depends upon the item. Some items are pretty much standard "convenience" store price + maybe 10%, some items are "Disney" priced. Any alcoholic beverage is Disney priced, and then some. Snack items, like doughnuts and pastries, are priced like a "normal" upscale grocery store. Eggs, lunch meats, bacon, etc. seem to be a little higher than the average convenience store. And of course, any Disney branded snack is quite high.

Soda and water have a high mark-up.

Pretty much forces you to look elsewhere for these items.

Maybe DVC could offer 20% off to members showing there DVC Member's card. We might look then however for now we get everything off site and bring it in or have delivered.

We have always rented a car and so making a trip to Publix has been part of our routine. But with the cost of rental cars rising we may consider not renting at some point. In that case we will decide about using the onsite store based on how much we need. If it is just breakfast stuff and snacks, no big deal to shop Disney. If we want to do any lunches ior dinners in the room, then the inflated Disney prices and the limited selection would make a grocery delivery order worthwhile.

The cereal I eat at home was more than twice the cost of the regular price at home at the BWV store (and I usually get it on sale, so it was almost 3 times the cost).

You might read the threads about having groceries delivered, if you need a lot of stuff and don't have a car.

If you go to the DVC members page there is a link for Grocery List/ Request Forms. If you click on it a new window will list the DVC resorts and you can take a look at the forms, it shows prices, it will give you an idea! Hope this helps. :)

I have found the DVC stores priced a bit higher, but most importantly, the selection is very limited. At SSR, there was not a veggie on the list. I plan to use Garden Grocer on our next trip. It appears to be more like supermarket shopping to me, rather than convenience store shopping. Since I don't rent a car, I will be using GG's delivery service.
