So we booked a Thanksgiving Fantasy cruise for 2017 back in June. With the release of the 2018 cruises we decided to move that cruise to the 2018 WBPC. Tonight I went online to see if they released my 8A Fantasy room, and not only did they but its now listed as $300 cheaper than I reserved it for 4 months ago. I thought the prices went up with time, not down.

Sometimes, but very rarely, prices go down. Not something to count on. But it is worth it to look out for it as you can get your price adjusted down if you catch it (DCL won't do it automatically) and it is before PIF date.

And are you sure that you checked for exactly the same booking? the www.touringplans.com faretracker does not reflect anything about the price going down: https://touringplans.com/disney-cruise-line/tools/fare-tracker?utf8=✓&cruise=1354&roomcat=08A&og=8 At least for two adults.

A few times I have experienced my booked stateroom price go down and I immediately contacted my TA who did confirm the price change and either I received a refund or adjusted my cruise final payment price. As the previous poster mentioned you have to catch it and contact DCL or your TA.

No it was the exact same room on the exact same date, its an elusive 8A cabin if anyone is interested in it, its still available.

Perhaps you had transfers included in the first price or had prepaid your gratuities?

Good thought but nope, I hadn't done either yet.

As noted, prices can (rarely) go down. The prices are based on how well rooms are selling at any given time. Typically, as the ship fills, the prices go up because the space is getting more limited.

If a lot of people wind up cancelling their reservations on the same cruise, the price could go down, due to the sudden influx of more rooms being available. DCL has a schedule of how many rooms at any given time they want to be sold. If the number of rooms still available is higher than DCL wants there to be, they will lower prices, or offer discounts, depending on how close to the cruise it is.

Thank you very much for posting this. I just booked a cruise for Aug 21, 2017 due to the fact that my family and I were scheduled to be on the cancelled 10/7 Dream. The price of the fare was supposed to be backdated to the release date pricing but i was a little leary when i saw that the pricing only went down $20 before the discount was applied. But this helped me see that the price has only changed slightly in past 6mos. Feel better now, thank you!

Maybe port fees went down or they reduced the rate for the 3rd and 4th passenger?
