DD has consented to sell some of her AG items including a Bitty Baby and the Bitty Twins. I have many complete outfits/sets including the accessories. We also have some regular AG clothes/accessories to sell. At the moment I have all of the sets bagged in clear baggies.

Can anyone suggest what I should sell the dolls/clothing for? I thought I'd sell the clothes by sets (some of 10 pieces or so), or multiple sets (still 10 pieces or so). What is the going rate when re-selling these. Everything is in good to excellent condition.

Thanks!

the right person I don't think you'll get more than $10 for a doll and a few $s for a set of clothes. (I've picked up a Bitty for 50cents at a church sale and a box of AG clothes for a few $s at a house sale and ebayed them all.)

I would put them on craigslist or ebay (or I'm sure there are AG sites) and get a lot more.

Good luck!

Do you have to sell these items? Just asking because a son sold off his action figures for nomiinal sums and then as an adult is collecting them again. We had so many and he is as an adult sorry he let the originals go.

Hi:). I might be interested, I live in Rockford, Il. Would you be interested in emailing me pictures of what you have? I would be willing to drive for the right price.....what we won't do for American Girls(ok..maybe just me...lol)

If you can email the pics, let me know and I will forward my email address:)

Are you sure you want to sell them? My mom held on to both my American Girl dolls and all the accessories (my grandfather made me a huge chest for everything). I'm so glad she kept them for me and I plan on giving them to my future daughter (if I have one!).

Do you e-bay at all? Depending on what you have, some AG items sell for more than original retail there. But even if you don't want to go that route, at least run a couple of searches to get a feel for what the stuff you have is selling at.

If you're not comfortable with e-bay, what about putting it on Craigslist? You have a better chance of AG collectors, who are willing to pay reasonable prices, searching there than just showing up at your yard sale.

In my experience people generally just want low, low prices at a yard sale, the quality of the stuff you're selling doesn't really matter much. I rarely, if ever, put the really good stuff out at yard sales.

I'll 3rd Ebay...you could sell it at a garage sale, but I don't think you'll get as much. If nothing else, search on Ebay and at least see what they are going for before you price them. You never know, if you advertise that you have AG things in a garage sale ad you might get more than just someone walking up and seeing it.

I will try to get some photos later this afternoon. :) I can tell you that we have a dark "haired" bitty baby with a few minor "scratches" to her "hair" (that is painted on). She has about 6 outfits plus accessories (bottles, shoes, hair bows, etc). We also have a blonde set of boy/girl bitty twins that appear to be in great condition. They have about 6 outfits each, plus accessories (like the toys, shoes and matching books). Then we have 10 or more assorted outfits for the standard AG doll. Most of these are about 5-8 years old, but havent been used for about 4 years.

I'll take some photos in a bit and email them to you.

For those who suggested we keep them, DD is keeping her first AG doll that looks like here plus some other (expensive) baby dolls that she has. She was fine in passing the others along...

Thanks!
P.S. Can you PM me your email address please?

Me too! I would love to know what kind of standard doll outfits you have and how much you want. I live in PA but would gladly pay all the costs for you to ship them.

I paid $15 for a bitty baby, original one, at a yard sale. I sold it for $250 on Ebay.

OMG! Was in NIB or something like that? Ours has been gently loved. Very clean though! I don't really do the ebay thing... The twins were going for $50 a pair when I checked earlier...

I agree with the others to ebay them.

I would delete your posts offering the items for sale before you get reported and receive infraction points. It happened to me recently, and you don't get warned, you just get dinged.

If you do decide to sell them at a rummage sale, make sure you keep them close to the cash/check out area so you can keep an eye on them. I am very distrustful of people at rummage sales ever since my friend had an entire book shelf (6 ft tall) stolen at a sale she and I had together. It just got so busy that we were both doing check out, handling cash, bagging stuff, etc. These people knew we weren't watching, picked it up and hauled it off! We didn't even realize it was gone until later when it slowed down. She was SOOO mad!

I imagine it was an original from the Pleasant Co., prior to Mattel buying them out. I think those are the ones worth $. They were little and the quality was top notch. The quality is still good, but the original ones weren't done assembly fashion, so I assume they were even better. Besides that, the fact that Pleasant no longer makes them creates more value. They used to have a "Pleasant" stamp on the dolls.

I have sold AG clothes and dolls at garage sales and it really matters how you display the items if you go that route. I pined all the outfits nicely to a big display board and printed up pictures off the website of the item, and had the original price for the outfit or outfit and accessories and then my price. I was able to get abot 50-60% of the regular price for the clothes, and sold a doll for $35 if I remember correctly. My pricing was just high enough so that all the dealer didn't buy it (that would mean it priced it low enough that they thought they could resale for better) but I did sell everything to other local families.

I saw a lot of the "Pleasant Co." markings when I went through everything yesterday. Perhaps I need to investigate more before pricing.

Thanks again everyone for your help!
