I was just wondering what the prices at the Conch flats store were like? Is it convenient, etc. We are staying at OKW in a one bedroom next week (1st time here) and I wasn't sure how to arrange food. We are not renting a car and are taking the Mears shuttle, so offsite shopping is not an option. Does the store have milk by the gallon, eggs, etc. I have a two year old so I have to have milk at some point during the day and I was hoping to cook a few meals as well. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

First of all ....

Welcome to DIS!!!

The prices are fairly high, but the store is stocked with basics for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have 1/2 gallons of milk, bagles, eggs, bacon, bread, peanut butter, jelly, pasta and sauce to name a few things.

You may want to consider taking a limo to WDW in place of Mears. Most limo services allow a free grocery stop along the way. The Publix is much cheaper than the gift shop :). In addition, you it's a door-to-door service with no waiting for the bus and no "tour" of the other WDW resorts on the way to OKW. Plus, you can request a car seat for your child. Check the Transportation Board for suggestions on limos.

Robin gave you great info. Take a limo with a supermarket stop. The store on site has a limited selection, and if your child is like mine they have certain things they like to eat. The money you save at the supermarket should pay for the extra expense of the limo. Enjoy OKW it is great .

I picked up a nice gentleman a few weeks ago at Winn Dixie, I just happen to be going in and he was waiting with a cart full of groceries, when i came out he was still waiting. SO I gave him a ride to OKW and he was happy, and his wife came out thanking me, as we were pulling off from the store, the yellow taxi pulled up for his ride. Winn Dixie is pretty reasonable, there is a new store on 535, past the olive garden.

That was very thoughtful of you, leslieh. You meet the nicest people at WDW.

How many are in your party? Often it is cheaper or almost the same price to get a towncar to and from the airport and you would get the free grocery store stop. The stores at the WDW resorts do have a pretty good selection with the DVC resorts having the largest selection but the prices are still pretty high and a local grocery store will have a much larger selection at much much better prices.

Thanks for all the input!! I've cancelled Mears and booked through yourride.com!! I will stop at the grocery store and be all set!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
