Prices - Are they different from different sources?

I have been reading about all the fun things to see and do on a cruise and am VERY tempted! I talked to a local TA and was quoted $2020.00 for the cruise only, for 3 night Nov. 13, 2003. Is this a "good" deal? There would be 4 of us and I do want a balcony so that we can sit outside after DD(3) goes to bed. Would Dreams be able to do any better? We can have a week at the parks for that price, so I don't know what to think. Suggestions? Ideas? Thanks.

For our first trip I called Costco and their price was 10% less than Disney's....they still take 10% off outside cabins and 5% off inside cabins. For the second cruise I booked with cruise.com. I talked to a nice agent who discounted the trip much better than Costco this time. Get quotes from a few sources and see who you feel comfortable with....both in terms of service and price. You won't beat Dreams service.

Local TA's usually cannot or won't even try to match a price you can find with a internet agency or a TA agency that deals with mostly cruise sales, there are some outstanding deals to be had on cruising you should be able to do better on a 3 day cruise. Your price seems high.

Thank-you very much. My kids are not too excited, they keep asking when we are going back to the parks. I am not too sure what to do now. We could take them to the parks and book a short adult only trip on another line as a seperate trip. The total cost would be about the same. We don't want to split the trip and do cruise/land option as DH can't really count on being able to take 7 days from work.:)

Disneycrazymom-

Have your kids ever been on a cruise before? If not, they are probably just saying that they prefer the parks because they don't know what to expect. We went on our first cruise last August when my girls were 6 and 8. They were not looking forward to it, either. They just wanted to get it over with so they could go to Disney afterwards. If you ask them now they will tell you that it was their best vacation ever and they would rather go on another cruise than back to the parks. I would pick another cruise over the parks anytime. We have one booked for next March but I don't know if I can wait that long!

Kamlem,

No they have not been on a cruise. DH and I have and really enjoyed the experience. I got the video tape from the TA and it got me really excited but they didn't really think it would be to fun. I should also add that we have a boat and spend quite a bit of time at the lake and they have been on several beach vacations, so I thought they would be pretty excited. I know that I could book anyway and in the end they would like it, I just don't know if under the circumstances it would be worth the money.:)

Since cruising, our two daughters (8 & 9) said they don't care if they ever go back to WDW again! We gave them the choice this year for Christmas and they immediately chose DCL. No lines, no crowds, no waiting - everything is right there for them to enjoy. We figured that 3 days at WDW (nice hotel plus admission for 4) plus meals (remortgage your house right there!) would be right up there with the price for a cruise.

Listen, we've all done the "do-you-know-how-much-this-trip-to-DisneyWorld-costs-we-are-going-to-have-FUN-if-it-kills-us" routine at WDW. On the cruise it's more like, "Sure...whatever you want, it's vacation". To me, that's priceless on a family vacation. Try it, you'll like it!

Do they know they can order as many cheeseburgers and ice cream cones as they want and it won't cost a penny! That is what my kids thought sounded like the coolest thing in the world. Also the idea of being able to call room service themselves and get food in the middle of the night and not have me go bezerk when I got the bill!

Seriously, my children loved it. We all loved the parks too, but I think they liked the cruise better.

My DSs were pretty miffed when we told them last year that we would be doing the 7 day cruise instead of going to the parks this summer. My oldest even tried to trade places with a friend who is going to the parks. I just ignored the whining and would tell them little bits and pieces about the cruise.

Now, we are still 5 1/2 months away and they are bursting at the seems to go. And just last week DH surprised us all with APs so we decided to go up a few days early and go to the parks too.

Just give them time and read them some of the fun stuff off of the boards.
