We have decided to go back oct 2015(early in month) and are certain that we will be staying onsite for the 1st time.
There are going to be 4 adults and 3 children(10,7 & 4) altho we will be sleeping as 2+3 and 2.
For the past few months I have been bombarded with prices from the wife and sister for flights, accommodation, ddp, tickets, etc...now its just gettin beyond a joke.
What would you class a decent ballpark figure, so I can finally say yes thatss quite good, without havin to go through numerous false bookings?

Thanks in advance,

For accommodation, you want to hold off until the 2015 specials are released around the end of this month. The hope is that free dining will be offered which cuts a massive chunk off your spending if you are staying at a moderate or deluxe resort and some resorts benefit from a discount in addition to the free dining.

For flights, you pretty much have to turn the search into a part time occupation.

Are you flying from Scotland? We've flown a different airline and route almost every trip depending what is cheapest. If you are going from Glasgow or Edinburgh you are pretty much indirect regardless.

Best route for us was with United via EWR. We paid about £450 each in 2011 for those flights. Next cheapest twice in a row has been BA from EDI or GLA via LGW to MCO. Last trip was September and we paid just shy of £400 each. This year we are going in the summer and booked through AA with some of the flights codeshare on BA metal and paid £575 per person. I have not found cheaper seats since, although I haven't gone hunting for them since our flights are booked.

I second that you wait until the end of the month for the DDP offer to come out.

You could look at getting a 2 bedroom villa in OKW/SSR with the discount. You'd all fit in there (kids on sofa beds) and have the benefit of a kitchen, washing machine etc.

best i have found for flights in oct this year was £470 return from glasgow:cool1: - direct on way out with thomascook and via kef on way back with icelandair.

We usually pay £250 -£300/week (including pool heat) for a villa and buy the US disney tickets 5+5 for about £200 each. On top of that the car hire is about £230 fully inclusive for an SUV. so total for 4 adults = £3410 (but no food)

Not sure how much disney charges at that time of year but we paid £2500 in OKW with 14 day tickets and free dining for 4- that was for 14 nights in july 2012 and I think is up a lot since then. car was £200 and flights were £557 with thomson but from east mid so total including food was £4728.

Hope that helps a little but your problem will be waiting to see what flights will be for next october as they won't be out for a while

I think onsite accommodation for a large group is your biggest challenge as you would either need 2 rooms or a 2 bed villa and both are going to set you back a fair amount of change. Wait and see what Disney offers us :)

Just dropping in...

For that size group, have you considered renting DVC points from an owner? We own DVC and have not had a need to do it, but I know at most times of the year you can get significant savings vs booking directly throughout Disney (obviously if you get free dining that is something to be factored in). For oct 2015, the points charts for oct are out so you would just have to get a idea what point rental might cost. I think many people use David's time share store ( ?) as a broker to arrange to transaction, they can probably give you an idea on per point cost. If you wanted a close in resort, you might need an owner to book for you right at 11 months, so you will want to start looking in advance.

Just a thought....

We are a family of 5, we have paid £500 each for flights from Manchester in Oct and we are staying in a 1 bed at OKW. We paid £4300 for our 1 bed and in this price we bought our 14 day ultimates so that we could get free dining. So all in we are just under £7k

I d wait for possible ddp. Will save you a fortune. Hows it work for flights? Airlines dont realease this far in advance i believe, so do they just guess in which case maybe they rip you off.

For a one bed DVC OKW in october would be 348 points. The average price is around £7 a point so renting would be approx. £ 2450. Plus your tickets and with the free ddp you have had a good deal as for 2 weeks your food would probably work out to £1000 for the 4 of you .I own dvc but if free ddp on I would say book that over renting unless you want BW/AKL etc as would prob be a little cheaper.
Sorry used ur quote as a guide for the OP

Cheers folks, with your help it looks ad tho av o curtail the bombardment of figures...until later this month!!
I much prefer the whole all booked up and waiting to go phase!!!:cheer2:

Or just the On-Our-Way phase :cool1:
I'm usually too stressed at that stage!! Whereas when its booked al have months of youtube videos, dvds, day to day park plans to keep me occupied(not that I do any of it for me, its all about the kids:rotfl2: )

Of course ;):rotfl: I can relate. Countless playlists on YouTube that start with Disney so that I can forward my DD the links to watch on her own laptop - just in case she can't find what she's looking for. Not that I would watch them :rotfl2:

If you're going out of school don't forget to add the price of the fine per child. Will still no doubt be much less than paying for school holiday flights!!!

Flights are an occupation. Check daily. Check more than once a day. Keep clearing your cookies. They can fluctuate wildly. Then once you've booked never look again. Unless of course you enjoy a bit of self harm.......

No fines in Scotland.

Indeed :) And our schools close more than a month ahead of most English schools so we get to fly out in June, lol.

Don't show off now!!!!! I think the whole fine thing is a sledgehammer to crack a nut. I get the whole needing to be in school issue. Actually I agree with the principal. But sneaking a few days here and there before they hit year 10 to save literally hundreds of £s on flights is hardly going to lobotomise the average well attending student.

I completely agree with you. I just couldn't resist a cheeky show off opportunity :rotfl:

The fining issue is relatively new so it will be some time before there is any way to gauge whether it has had any significant effect on term time absenteeism. It will probably curb the habit for those who take regular or lengthy cheaper breaks or even just keep kids off to stay at home or visit Aunt Suzie, but not likely to stop anyone who is saving upwards of a grand.

Anyhow, don't want to derail the OP's thread entirely, but yes, I am also grateful for the absence of fines in Scotland :)

At the risk of sounding like a broken record :crazy2:. The fine issue has been shown to have stopped at least some people taking children out of school (in particular families who have done so in the past) and so has in effect caused demand to increase in school holidays - particularly summer. So, we all know what that means - yep, higher prices for those that won't or don't choose to take their children out of school for whatever reason. It's a vicious circle and in addition, it's lovely to be seen as a 'cash cow' for the industry! :(

I really don't know what the answer is on this one! Move to Scotland perhaps :rotfl2:.

OP - as others have said, I would wait and look at a Disney villa when the offers come out. 2 rooms in a value (without dining) will probably be nearly as much for you as a deluxe villa with free DDP for a party of your size!
