Priceline vs. Expedia

which do you prefer? im trying to decide for which one to use to book my trip to disneyland. is anyone going on a trip there soon?

Priceline, you really have to know what you're doing, unless you don't mind not knowing what hotel you're getting beforehand. Some people can figure out what hotel they're bidding on by the amenities listed. It is true that you can get a great deal on a nice hotel. However, you are not likely to get a hotel that is within walking distance. In my opinion, that's not worth it-- though some people on here really like the deals they got on Priceline. I'm just too uptight to not know what hotel I'm getting before I commit.

Expedia, well, it's just a booking service. You can get better deals by booking separately, yourself. You can book your own hotel, air and tickets separately and potentially save hundreds of dollars. Try planning your trip through Expedia (but not committing) and then try doing it separately and see how you come out.

We always use orbitz or expedia. We check both to compare prices. I check each thing seperately and then as a package.

This time, orbitz was cheaper. We booked hotel, airfare, car, and park tickets as a package and ended up saving a couple hundred dollars.

I've never used priceline. I like to choose the hotel myself, not have it chosen for me.

I strongly belive in three strikes you are out for businesses. Priceline hit 3 strikes in a row with my family for trip planning. Each time there was a major problem and customer service was non-existant. I have had wonderful experience with Expeida each and every time I have used them. Even the one time there was a problem Customer Service took care of it right away. For a quick rundown of Priceline problems twice no reservations when we got to the hotel and the third no airline tickets for my DH and then no rental car when we got there. I had confirmations for all of them and no luck with customer service.

Expedia has offices in my town but other than that I know nothing about them.

And priceline scares me!


BUT I've booked a hotel through Orbitz and it was more than if I'd booked directly b/c of their fee.

I booked a flight through travelocity and again, it was more expensive than booking directly b/c of their fee.

Don't ask me why I did that, I was stupid.


But then we used hotwire for a hotel-only earlier this month, and it was great! Go for a 3.5 star in the Disneyland area and you're most likely going to get the Hilton or the Hyatt. Increase the Hilton's rate by $15 if you have a car, b/c that's their parking fee (Hyatt too, if I recall correctly). Things worked well and the counter guy was astonished at our rate for a last minute one-night Friday night stay at the Hilton.

I liked hotwire...you still don't know where you will be (except for there really being only the two 3.5 star places in the Disneyland area) but you're not bidding, so it's not AS low as priceline but it's not as stressful, if you're not a big bidding fan.
