Priceline question

Can you fly standby with pricline tickets....in other words if they give you the 5 PM flight can you show up at 8AM and take that flight if there is room????thanks

I've never flown using priceline, but I have been in airline check-in lines on two occaisions when someone was trying to fly standby on an earlier flight using priceline tickets, and they were told they could not do that. Apparently priceline tickets are very restricted.
