Priceline/Hotwire Car Rental with debit card

I've read through all the threads, but I'd like to know if anyone has recently rented through priceline and/or hotwire and actually used a debit card. Yes, I know all about the deposits, holds, documentation, credit check, etc.

I would just like to hear from someone who has done it in reality and find out how the process went.

We used Hotwire for our trip and "won" a rental with Hertz. Of course you have to pre-pay and can't change the dates, but we did use our debit card and they charged our account right away. As far as having a credit card at the Hertz counter, I have been told by both a Hertz phone rep and an MCO Hetz rep that if the rental is pre-paid, they only need (hold) a $140 deposit which can be cash or on a debit card.

I have used both Priceline and Hotwire for many hotel deals and have always used my debit card and have never had any issue. Good Luck!
