I have never used any type of Priceline service before, but am thinking I may be able to use something similar and save some money.
I am looking to book 2 nights in North Conway, NH for 12-26 and 12-27. I would love to get the Hampton Inn, but any hotel with an indoor pool would be acceptable.

Does anyone have any advice

You should check out this site... it offers all sorts of info on Priceline and Hotwire bidding, their hotels, what other people are getting their room rates at, etc. http://betterbidding.com/

If there are any hotels you wouldn't be happy with, then don't bid. You have no way to specify you want an indoor pool.

That's not true. Priceline has a list of hotels at discount rates and you can choose any one of them, you just can't use the "name your own price" option.

The Hampton Inn's regular rack rate for your days is the same as the Priceline rate. Since they guarantee the lowest price you can call 1-866-PRICELINE and ask them how their rate is supposed to be cheaper when they add booking fees onto the Hampton rate, maybe they can get you something lower. Christmas time in ski country isn't going to get you much of a discount no matter what you do.

I'd love to be at Attitash with you, but we moved to Georgia in 1998 and haven't been back since. Beautiful part of the country, I miss it.

We normally stay at Attitash Mountain Village, but it's really the luck of the draw on how nice of a unit you get. I would love to stay at the Hampton Inn, but the price is double what I was hoping to pay. I can book the Royalty Inn and some other similar hotel closert to Santas village with an indoor pool for about 99 a night. But I love North Conway and its shops. I'll go back and try to see if Priceline is any help. I might try calling the hotel directly also.

Thanks!

You may also consider hotwire.com I have gotten some very good rates with them. While higher than priceline, it's still an opaque booking site and you can at least see the amenities of the hotel you are booking. Plus with some good detective work, you can almost always know what hotel you are going to get!;)

I haven't looked at biddingfortravel or betterbidding in regards to North Conway, but how those sites normally work is that they let you know what hotels have been won in what star category and area so you can narrow down your choices. So if you see that there are 4 3-star hotels that report for North Conway you can check them out and see if you're willing to go for the luck of the bid. The last non-Orlando area I bid on was for a 4-star in a section of Virginia Beach, so I pretty much knew what I was going to win, it was more a matter of how much. Either way, good luck.

Unless you are using the bidding area of PL, why bother? Book thru the hotel's own website and earn points with the loyalty program.
