I'm having no luck getting two rooms in Inner Harbor, Baltimore in August. If I bid three or four stars in an acceptable price range (according to the Priceline BB) and don't get anything, does that mean there are definitely no rooms at that price for those dates or does it mean -- there may be rooms as the date gets closer?

I want to drop to 2 1/2 stars but I'm afraid I'll get a real slummy hotel, although dh seems to thing there are no slummy ones in the inner harbor area.

If I want to use Priceline, I will make a back up reservation and not bid on a hotel room until closer to the date. Inventory opens up and seems to be more available closer to the date of arrival. I never bid far in advance on Priceline but that's just me.

A few things:

Check rates and availabilities for hotels at the quality level you want and make a cancelable back-up, as suggested by Sharbear. This will help you educate you on what is available conventionally and allow you to be patient. It is early to bid for August but I like to have things locked in early. I bid for July in Sacramento a couple months ago. It is very possible for inventory to open up later for you but keep in mind that rates for August at Inner Harbor will likely be more than the rates recently won on biddingfortravel.

Good luck!

I've read that board -- the moderator scares me, she is on one heck of a power trip. I wouldn't post a question there if you paid me.

I have posted several questions with biddingfortravel.com and never had any problems. Reading though what other people have bid on and won helped alot too.

Kallison,

You may want to try www.betterbidding.com. It appears to have been started by a group of people unhappy with the administration of biddingfortravel. It doesn't have the extensive FAQ section or as many posts, though.

I, too tried once to get a 3 or 4 * hotel in the Inner Harbor to no avail. I just gave up, and decided to take another Disney trip instead;)

I realize this doesn't help much. I just wanted you to know it's not just your bad luck. I've read that Inner Harbour rooms are hard to get through Priceline, and that certainly was my experience.:(

I had no luck bidding on Priceline for Inner Harbor last July when my daughter wanted to go to an Anime' convention. I ended up having to use a Holiday Inn further out as the backup. Maybe it's just Inner Harbor?
