Has anyone used priceline for Cocoa Beach hotels? I've never used priceline, but I'd like some hints as to what star rating and prices to bid. Thanks for your help.

Lauri - Ok, I am so new to Priceline, but I JUST won (about 10 minutes ago) a 3 star hotel in cocoa beach for $65 in September. I don't even know if this is a good deal or not. I have been trying for a couple of months. First I bid a 3 star in cocoa beach for $60. I did not win that. Then I added the Merrit Island, but kept the 3 stars (this was safe because I knew that Merrit Island does not have any 3 star hotels). I bid at $65 and it was accepted. It ended up being the Holiday Inn Oceanfront Resort. I guess we will see how we like it! Hope this helps!

You can go to the betterbidding website and it will tell you what the most common hotels are for the star ratings and give you lots of other tips.

I read the Cocoa Beach info at www.biddingfortravel.com and learned there are only two 3 star hotels in Cocoa - Holiday Inn Oceanfront and Radisson at the Port. I figured what the heck. We sail on the Magic 10/29 and I won a room at the HI Oceanfront for $55. Can't beat that! :Pinkbounc

Check the website. It has alot of great info and you can see what bids have been accepted at the time you are needing a reservation.

Hope this helps.

I have to say that I agree with the other posters. I have used Priceline before, but I always research everything through Bidding for Travel first. They really know what they are doing on that board! (she can get a little testy if you don't fill the form out properly, though....so just remember that!)

I often use Priceline for Cocoa Beach....we have gotten both the Holiday Inn Oceanfront and the DoubleTree for 49.00 each. One was in Sept (DoubleTree) and the other was in October. Both were 3 star. I started the bid low and every few days increased it.

Another option is to stay in Orlando. You're just 45 minutes or so from the port, and you can get a 3 star for quite a bit less since there are more rooms available. We got the 3 star Wyndham on International drive in January for $28. Well worth the hour drive in the morning, IMHO.

Thanks for all the great info everyone. I'm a little nervous, but I'm going to give it a try. I'll let you know how I do.

I went on priceline once and tried to figure it all out. I go a little nervous when I had to put in what I wanted and the pricing. I stopped at that point. When are you locked into a room with priceline? I am too nervous to use it. I would love to use it and get a great rate for PC. We normally pay between $100-$150 for a room at Radisson at the Port. We love this hotel.

I tried my first attempt. I bid very low ($35/night), but was rejected. I added Merritt Island and increased to $38, and was again rejected. I'm not cruising till November, so I'll keep inching my way up. It was a little scary, but I would do it again.
