I've used Priceline with great success for short hotel stays of 1 or 2 nights. It is hard to go back to paying regular rates! I will need a hotel in Sacramento for 10 days this summer. Has anyone used Priceline for such a long stay? Any tips? Would I be better off bidding for all 10 days or breaking to up into smaller segments, paying the Priceline fee more than once and risking having to change hotels?

Thank you for any experience that you can share.

I've never used Priceline before so I don't know. Just giving a friendly bump :)

I have only used them for short stays but if it were me I would do all 10 days at once. For a 10 day stay I would get a 4 star hotel just to be on the safe side.
I just received an email from them that if you book by march 1 they will take another 50.00 off (10.00 for up to 5 nights).

I did it for a 6 day stay in FL and had no trouble...I think the farther out you are for something like this the better. Give it a try, and if you get rejected, split it into 2 stays....good luck let me know how it goes :)

Dear peg2001,

I've only used Priceline for air travel but I was born and raised about 35 miles north of Sacramento. If you're there on business please disregard this post. If not take a look at my home town Auburn for a weekend or more. There's a nice Bed & Breakfast called Powers Mansion Inn.

Powers Mansion Inn

The American River is less than 5 miles south and Nevada City is a scenic 30 mile drive north.

Just a suggestion but let me know if you want more info:D

Thank you, Elaine, I appreciate the bump!

Glo - Thanks! I'll let you know.

Bumcat - are you saying that Priceline sent you an e-mail and is offering $10 off your bid a night for hotel stays up to 5 nights?? That would be amazing. I can't find anything about that offer on Priceline website. Would it be possible for you to forward the e-mail to peggyshoffner@hotmail.com? Thank you!!

Kirk - I would love more info. We will be in the Sacramento area for a total of 13 days but will be spending a few of those days at Yosemite National Park. Additionally, we know we want to visit Old Sac and also the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose. I followed your link and the bed and breakfast looks very nice. We'll have DD3 and DD6 with us though so I usually avoid B&B's for the sake of the couples trying to "get away" for a few days! Any specific activities or sites you would recommend around Auburn or Sacramento?

Peggy
