I'm pretty confident that it is WL, it's more that I really only need 2-3 nights tacked on to my trip and it's for 5-6 nights. I could cancel my current hotels, but overall it costs me $600ish more total in hotels and I don't need it... If the last 2-3 nights of the 5-6 night time frame comes up, I'll probably do it. That would only be about $150ish more overall.
I have tried to figure out hotel canary but it's not working for me. Followed directions I found online but still nothing. . . Looking for July 15-17. Was hoping for AP discount but have almost given up hope for that!

I've had trouble with Hotel Canary over the last few days, not sure why.
I see a three-star express deal that's probably a Disney resort for $189 -- but that's no kind of deal! I think the Swan is on there for $204/night for your dates and I see some regular listings for Pop and AS Sports, too.

For the past month or so I've been looking at a trip later in July, and I've only seen Swan and Dolphin at Express Deal prices that I consider reasonable (but not great.) I'm optimistic that AP rates for July will come out soon -- don't lose hope!
Not a disney question but can you book a priceline express deal for a family? Or do you have to chance it and see if the hotel can accommodate you when you get there? We are a party of 4 and we need at least 2 beds even if they are 2 doubles.

Well, I've only ever booked a Disney hotel through PL, but I was able to call Disney's wholesale department and add my two children to the reservation. I assume you can call whatever hotel you book through them and do the same, but I haven't tried it with anyone else.
How accurate do you find hotel canary? I've been following for a disney resort, but recently my parents asked me to book a spot on St. Pete's Beach. I warned them about the risk but not sure how often hotel canary is incorrect. I guess the amenities are guaranteed anyway so it can't be that bad...
So we decided definitively that Dolphin isn't showing resort fees right? Because I see a 4 star that's heavily discounted for 5/16-5/19 with no resort fees but the amenities don't match Disney resorts. Canary says Dolphin.

Yep, that's what I figured. I'll just keep searching. Had really unfortunate luck with this trip in terms of deals. Bad availability with the AP rates and no PL deals.

FWIW I was able to book Beach Club on Priceline yesterday for $374/night with a 15% code through Ebates (May have been 10% code, saved me $56), for May 25-28 (Memorial Day weekend). $1200ish total with Tax/fees.
I received All Star Sports last evening for this weekend at $93/night on Priceline and was also able to use a 15% code that someone posted on this thread - Thank you for posting as I saved an additional $27 on the booking!

Checked your dates for you. Canary thinks the 4 star at $219 a night is the Dolphin. They list all of the values as a possibility for the 3 star for $189/night. I'm guessing it's an All Star Music family suite. A regular room at a value for $189/night isn't a very good deal.
