Priceline Dispute aka. Are we Screwed? - UPDATE!!!!!!!!

Wowsers! It is a 3 star with some places. I guess the toenail clippings in the beds are an ammenity. Seriously.

Wow, first I cannot believe this rates as a 3 star ANYWHERE...

But what exactly did you say to her? I'm very curious!!!

Always request a 4*, that's what we do, either that or Resort.... never below, and we've always been happy with Priceline.....

I only told her the exact same thing I told the others - I asked for a 2.5-3 star, got a nasty 2 star that I absolutely would not be going near. I guess she saw my history on the computer, and that I had already called multiple times? I don't know. I didn't even have to tell her I was going to dispute it with the CC or call BBB. I just asked her how she can look someone in the face and tell them it's okay to stay at a hotel like this. That's it, I wasn't mean or anything, but not all that sweet, either. Just very matter of fact. I learned my lesson, though! And happily, booked a room at the POP - our first on-site hotel! Yay!!

Of course they failed to tell you that the hotel is rated a 1 and 1/2 star on Expedia. They should take this hotel out of their inventory. This is from a review on Priceline's own web site.

To begin with, the room smelled damp when we arrived. We could not change rooms, as the hotel was sold out that night. There was mildew in the bathroom on the floor, and near the door frame. The toilet was clogged, and was never fully fixed. The worst part was that one of the two beds had a stench that was Nauseating. It, and the pillows on it, reeked of sour milk and body odor. My son and I had to share a bed, and several hours after awakening, I developed a rash on my face which turned out to be contact dermatitis. The check-out clerk couldn't do much to help, other than offer the general manager's telephone number. I spoke with him and he apologetically offered me a night in one of the hotel's "show" rooms (new carpeting, new beds, etc.). That is the only reason I would ever return to this particular location.

Good for you staying onsite!!! And good for standing strong!

I knew if you kept pushing and pushing you would finally find someone that would refund it - it was just CRAZY!

OMG - we stayed there about 8 years ago on one of our first trips to WDW. It was HORRIBLE then - we stayed there as part of a time-share-presentation-deal. We still get nightmares - we were there one night with our small children and moved. No amount of FREE would make me go back.

Excuse me while I go take a shower.....

MAGICALLY :wizard: she agreed to cancel it!!! :cool1: They are charging me a one night fee ($45) but that's nothing! AND, if I want to use Priceline again, they'll happily refund that fee. I kinda laughed in her face (and by "kinda" I mean, I did laugh in her face) and told her I would never, ever use PL again, but thanks.

I really want to thank EVERYONE who posted and helped me and told me to keep calling - it paid off!!! :grouphug:[/QUOTE]

Wow, that was really nice of them to offer the $45 fee if you tried again sometime. I would do it for another night away or something. Just bid 4 star of Resort and you'll be happy. But no matter what, your persitance paid off. Congrats on cancelling the reservation. Don't let the experience stop you in the future. Just be careful of star quality and area and check the bidding travel sites first. And fyi, we never bid Orlando because we like to stay onsite so congrats on your upcoming stay - you're going to love it!:goodvibes

and, if they had a dining plan, would that be considered a snack? i think the "single serving" determination might be an issue there tho.......

;)

Glad it worked out. Can you call the health dept. or someone to check into how disgusting that place is? That would have been my suggestion if they had not refunded your room. Sounds like it should really be shut down anyway. I'd be sleeping in my car if that was my only choice.

Ask hotel directly if they will refund / cancel room and you will re bid on priceline ? (but don't rebid). hotel gen manager has authority to cancel their side of the priceline contract and priceline automatically refunds you. they do not have an obligation to refund you ... just an option . i would try it . hopefully GM will be agreeable. help you out.
