Priceline -car rental?

HELP, please! Has anyone used priceline for a car rental? I am getting extremely high rates for mid feb, esp during pres week, and am considering priceline, but nervous about using them as I never have before. Anyone here used priceline? Thanks

We just rented a minivan for our Feb. trip through Priceline. This is our first experience with Priceline car rental, although we've been using it for hotels for many years.

We got Avis and saved about $250 over other quotes for an 11 day rental.

How does it work? Do you put in exact date and time, then your requested price and they get back to you with info?

Can you tell us what you ended up paying? We need anywhere from 10-12 days and minivans where over $650 for that time period. What rental agency did they give you? Thanks.

It works just like bidding on a hotel. I entered the location where I wanted to pick it up, when and for how long, and how much per day I wanted to pay. Then it did the search thingy and came back and said my offer was accepted. We're paying $461.24 total (including all taxes and fees) for 11 days. My bid amt. was $32/day. It's an Avis rental picking it up at the airport.

We had called around and were quoted anywhere from $650-$1000.

They let you know right away.

Thanks for the details Vijoge! I got a 10 day rental for an intermediate SUV for $250 toal, so even though it is just a touch tight, I guess I will stay with that.
