I am considering bidding on a room using priceline because the "zone" we want (universal/seaworld) only has one resort: JW Marriott...and that's where we want to stay. Does this mean that we are 100% guaranteed this is the hotel we are bidding on then?(beings we pick our zone and resort) The hotel is going for $179/night...what should I bid?

If you bid in that zone ONLY, you will NOT get a hotel in any other zone. There is no guarantee that your bid will be accepted, but if it is, you would ONLY be put in the zone you bid on.

As I mentioned in your previous post, go to biddingfortravel.com for specific help with bidding. If you provide them with the appropriate info (and the administrator tells you EXACTLY what info is needed) you will receive help with your bid--when to bid, what bid to start with and how high you should go.

Follow this link to see the bidding assistance form:

It is important that you follow the instructions--they help to you get FREE rebids if your initial bid is rejected.

Sheryl, the administrator, can seem a bit harsh or strict, but the info she requires (and is strict about) is what guides her so that she can provide you with a winning strategy.

My gut feeling is that if you are thinking about bidding for a hotel in July, she will most likely tell you it is too soon to bid. I didn't bid for our room (stayed Feb 04) until December 03.

THis is a good thing, as it gives you time to wait and see if cheaper rates will come out for any of the universal hotels. Staying at, say, The Royal Pacific would mean a more relaxing time for you and your hubby-to-be! You would have so much more time, with being able to walk to the parks and take your time (FOTL!!). Of course, if this doesn't work out, priceline is a great alternative.

Good luck!

Ok, just visited biddingfortravel and saw that you have already posted for bidding assistance. Did you see the last reply under your post? I hope you didn't try to bid yet, as per what Colfax30
posted about one of your rebid zones.

And don't feel badly about the confusion over #9! That one got me too, and probably a lot of people. I think it could be worded a little better.

Seems like you've got a good handle on things. And, if you can't get the JW for a price you can live with, don't be afraid to give the Renaissance a try (only 4 star). If you read the reviews, you will see that most people say it is a lovely hotel. It used to be listed as the only resort, but they were renovating the pool (not sure if complete) and so it was relisted as a 4 star. Read reviews here:

Hi Thank you for all your help, I appreciate your great advice. We may go ahead and put in 1 bid and if it's not accepted we will try after New Year's (like she suggested). Beings it is our honeymoon we have tried to book everything early (we booked our resort in Cancun 3 months ago). Thanks again! Jamie
