hello all,
we recently ate lunch at tusker house after checking several places to find out how much it was going to cost. we had made a reservation day of, so canceling without the cancellation fee was out of the question. when we arrived for our reservation time, the price was 10 dollars more per person than we had found through our research, and the food was bleh at best, so needless to say we were severely disappointed. so my question is, is there a reliable website to find buffet/ayce prices day of?

We tend to avoid buffets but any restaurant at Disney isn't going to be as good as you'd think for the price. The premium is definitely location here. And with that being a character meal, even more so.

IMO the buffets/character meals are great value for DDP, but horribly expensive out of pocket. As people may have mentioned above, you are paying premium for that no-line face time with characters more than you are the food itself. That said, Tusker House does good good marks (for a buffet) in the food department. Garden Grill is another solid choice (though, not a buffet, but served "family style" instead).

i'm aware of the difference between disney pricing and off property pricing...my husband and i even have two different criteria for expensiveness of a restaurant..."well figure about 15 bucks per person less if this was off property...10 bucks less per person if it wasn't a character meal"...we still felt it was expensive based on that criteria...the provided link was not something we knew about before our adr at tusker house, but every place we did check, including the 'my disney experience' app suggested it would be in the mid $30s...

Out of interest, what was the price exc tip and exc tax? Disney website has between 15 and 59.99 and would be interested as to whether it has changed from the $48 on the link above?

Where did you see mid $30's for lunch on MDE? I'm looking right now and it shows $35-$59, which is going to vary by season/day. Even some days during the season will vary. While no, that doesn't give you an exact price I wouldn't see that and expect a total of "mid $30's", I'd expect something closer to the middle of the price range. So wondering just why you thought mid-$30's based on that range?

We usually prepare for the highest seasonal price point for adults and if it comes out lower, we have some pocket cash.

I pulled up MDE to see if it was different from the website.
Looks like from here I would expect my Lunch or Dinner to be as much as $59.99 (seasonal).
Breakfast is listed at $34.99. If you are looking at those lower price points, those are for children.

On Disney's site it says ... this would be $35 - $59 for adults.

Breakfast is $35, Dinner is $59.99 ...

$$ ($15 to $34.99 per adult) - $$$ ($35 to $59.99 per adult)

:sad2: Planning meals can be tricky. And
I do agree that if you look at a variety of sites, there can be a variety of answers. Some seem to be fairly on point and a few seem to be rarely updated or have inaccurate info. Some consider seasonal and some don't. All the more reason for us to always plan buffets over anything I read. I think regular menus are more consistent.

the most expensive i saw anywhere i looked was 35.99...which at the time of us eating there was about average for character buffets(crystal palace was 35.99 for dinner when we ate there a couple weeks previous) i get the difference between seasons, and children's and adult pricing, however, nowhere was it above 40 dollars for any meal

I mean, we can't really speak to where you looked or the accuracy of it and everyone looking now is seeing the price around you were charged.

Disney doesn't list the specific prices, so anywhere you find them wouldn't be "official."

Did you look on Disney's site? Seems like the range would indicate $35 is the lowest. If I was eating there I wouldn't expect to pay the lowest.

Did you check Disney’s official website? As shown in the screen shot above, the price could be between $35-$60. Where did you check that you saw $35 as the highest?
