I am looking into buying a preowned time shares. We are looking at all the areas as possibilities and noticed that Wildernesss Lodge price seemed to spike recently. Is there any reason that that happened? Or is it just timing because so many are on the market closer to points or having points.

I bought a point full dec 2005 use year contract last month with 24 banked points for 79/point.

Just shows you are nice it is to be a VWL owner.

VWL is one of the smallest DVC resorts. So I would assume its a supply and demand thing. If there are little resales available prices may go up. Also there has been a rumor going around that the DVC prices are going up in March which in turn could drive the resale market up as well.

Timeshare prices are usually asking price. You could offer less - It's up to the seller to accept or not and that probably has to do with a lot of factors (need to close soon, length of time it has been on the market, etc) that would make the offer firm or not. Good Luck

You can always offer less, but DVC's ROFR is the price point that most want to stay around so as not to lose the sale. I suspect a change might indicate a change in the ROFR price that is passing these days for VWL.

I've notice the price spike too and it doesn't make sense. Many of these sellers are asking BCV prices for VWL. BCV is the other small resort but in such high demand that it's difficult to purchase it directly from Disney (there is a long waiting list). So in the case of BCV your choices are: buy resale and get it now or buy from Disney and wait maybe as long as a year. So it's not surprising that BCV resales are as high as they are.

In the case of VWL, it doesn't make sense to me. You can purchase VWL directly from Disney for $92/point. You will get current year points, pay pro-rated dues and not pay any closing costs. I see resale contracts listed for close to that price so with closing costs, you will pay more than if you bought directly from Disney. Some of these contracts have very few or no current year points. So I think it's just sellers looking at BCV prices and thinking that VWL should sell for the same price. If potential buyers are doing their homework, they will realize that those prices are out of line.

I agree with you. The asking prices for VWL resales are TOO HIGH. Even at $88 per point, you'd be better off buying directly from Disney at $92 per point. I wouldn't pay more the $82-$85 per point for a VWL resale, and the contract would have to be loaded. Heck, I've seen VWL resales pass ROFR at $79 per point recently!
