Thanks for posting that Ed. I looked at it earlier today, too. I know we are mostly the converted on this board but it reminded me of the folks over on the Resort Board who sing about how DVC is a bad idea since you can get what they feel are comparable places offsite. Well, according to the article Ed posted offsite has gone up an average of 26% since 1995 as well!

Thanks for the post Ed. I'm sure glad my family is DVC members. It is outrageous that the prices are going up so much. I understand when they say that due to new rides prices go up. But my family does not ride any of the roller coaster rides (RARC, TOT, SM, BTM, KR). Therefore we are paying for something we will never use. I like the old days when you had tickets for different types of rides.

Just yesterday I was hunting for an old unexpired ticket and came across my old 1992 paper ticket instead. The back of the ticket read for 4 days hopper came to $152. In addition in the pile was listing for hotels, etc. Everything was about $100 to $200 less only 9 years ago. By the way I also found papers listing OKW just opening in January 1992 and it listed minimum price as $12,190. It never mentioned anything about points.

If they are not all careful they will price themselves right out of the market and will have trouble getting people visiting during the recession.

Thanks for this article Ed. While there isn't much that we can do about escalating ticket prices, I'm thrilled that we've controlled our on-site lodging costs for the next 41 years. That 26% rise in hotel prices from 1995 until now applies to hotels out on 192, but certainly not those on-site at WDW. They've gone up way more than 26% in that time. I'm glad we joined DVC!

I wonder how many people go to Disney and don't ride any of the big attractions? I am one that just likes to take in the feel of the parks, look through the shops and ride the older attractions (POC, HM, etc.) not the thrill rides they are buildling more and more of today. I can't be the only one like this ... can I? What about the thoughts of two different ticket prices, one for park entry and one for park entry & thrill rides? That would be one way to keep ticket prices afordable for families, especially with younger kids that don't ride the expensive thrill rides. Just some thoughts to mull over.
