Price Increases on Food and Beverage...

FYI, if you are budgeting, several reports regarding resort wide fiscal year price increases on food and beverage. Blog Mickey examples:

• Mickey Pretzel increased from $5.59 to $5.79
• Churros increased from $5.89 to $6.19
• Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar increased from $5.39 to $5.69
• Pop Secret Popcorn increased from $4.69 to $4.99
• Resort Refillable Souvenir Mug increased from $18.99 to $19.99
• Bud Light increased from $8.00 to $8.25
• Tonga Toast increased from $8.99 to $9.29

I booked our lunch there last week and one of the addons was the Wagyu Beef for $53 for 3oz. I looked again just now and it has been changed to $78 for a 4 oz piece. This is a bummer because I was totally going to try it for the $53 but can't justify the new price, even with the larger portion.

Ugh. It's not like the price increases are outrageous since its mostly 20-30 cents. But extremely annoying to know that's another thing I have to pay more for...esp when the original price is already high (in my opinion at least)

Not only are prices going up, but the portion sizes are going down. My DW and I used to share meals because the portion were so large not so much anymore...
However, Disney World is our vice and we will continue to return back home.

What, is this happening now like two or three times a year now?

This is becoming more normal in businesses. Many businesses avoided raising prices, then when they finally did it was a big jump and people got upset. So now most successful businesses have small 5% increases more often. Yep it all adds up at the end of the day but most consumers barely notice a minor price adjustment.

The reality is that food prices go up, wages and benefits go up, and costs get passed along.

It wouldn't surprise me, if they went back to this. I've been traveling to Disney for years. I still remember in July, 2002 - security went through our backpack. We had a can of Pringles. We were informed snacks were allowed, but not "advertised". They made us out the Pringles in zip lock bag, which I had.
