This was talked about on the Cape May thread but I thought I'd post it here to let people who may not click on that thread to let them know.

Apparently, Disney has increased the prices for a lot of the buffets and character meals.

For example, Boma and Cape May used to be $26.99 a person but they are now $35.99 a person for dinner!

Just wanted to make people aware of this before they go.

I had several reservations for our upcoming trip but am now re-thinking our food plan. Wouldn't have known if it wasn't for the DIS! When I made the ressies they were still the old price.

If you are on the DP it won't affect you. But for people paying OOP, it's a big difference.

Are you sure, on Boma? According to the DIS menu, current as of this month, the total(?) price of an adult meal at Boma is $33.01. This appears to include tax, meaning the actual menu price is $30.99 - more than before, sure, but still a lot less than the $35.99 indicated above.

Ok...I called to double check and here's what they told me over the phone.

This is for dinner prices.

Boma is $33.01 a person including tax but not including the tip.

1900 Park Faire is the same price

Cape May Clambake is now $36 a person.

Still quite a jump at any rate. Hope I didn't confuse people too much and apologize. I was going off what people had said on the other thread.

Glad to hear Boma didn't go up as much as Cape May. Next week I think we will keep our Boma ressie, but we are dumping our Cape May. We like the food better at Boma anyway.

Thanks for the info!!!

...I had read somewhere (ALLears?) that 1900 park faire dinner was $40.+:scared1: so I was avoiding!!!!

:flower3:

I noticed all the DIS menus were updated recently and I'm hoping they're correct. I'm so on the fence about DDP and I'm basing our cost estimates on those menus. It's pretty close either way. I know we'll get more food on the DDP but we can spend less money, be less scheduled and eat fewer desserts without the DDP (that is, if the menu prices are accurate.)

I think we are going to dump Cape May too and keep Boma. But even Boma is going to cost us about $170. (5 people) I love it...but I have to really think...is it worth that much? I'm not so sure.

When we first started going to Disney, I remember the buffets used to cost us about $125 for our family at dinner times. It's obviously gone up quite a bit!

Now I'm really confused. On the menus on the DIS it is saying that 1900 Park Faire is $40 for dinner!!! When I called they told me it was $33.01. Now I don't know what's the right price and that is a huge difference!

Getting frustrated because I had all our ADR's done and now I'm finding everything has gone WAY up. I don't want to get there and have a huge surprise.

So wonder what the real price is?

You cannot count on menus posted on unofficial sites to reflect the actual price currently being charged at any given restaurant, as they are updated only when the sites receive new menus from guests who provide them. Some sites date the menus, so you should check the dates.

You also can't count on the menus posted on Disney's website, because each of them carries the disclaimer "Menu items and prices are subject to change at any time without notice."

Disney was also, for the past few years, charging an extra $4 for adults and an extra $2 for children on all buffets and all you can eat restaurants in designated peak seasons. We haven't seen the dates for these peak seasons for 2010 yet, but some posted menus and prices may reflect this peak surcharge.

You may want to go with the price you were given when you called, although I don't have any idea where WDW-DINE is getting the prices from, and they're wrong often enough that I personally don't trust them to do anything but make restaurant reservations. There's still no guarantee that the price won't be different when you get there.

I'm sure if you called the Grand Floridian and asked to be transferred to 1900 Park Fare they could give you accurate pricing for their restaurant.

But even that price would really only be completely accurate if you were going to be eating there the same day you called the restaurant and asked. They could still raise prices the next day.

TDNALA: I agree with everything you said. I do trust the Disboard, however, and their prices were updated this month so I'm assuming it is current. I don't think they would raise the prices without getting that info from Disney.

I'm actually thinking that when I called, Disney Dining didn't have the correct prices which I believe are probably the higher prices we're seeing.

It may seem like only a few dollars, but when it is for several meals for several people that really adds up quickly.

Now I love Disney as much as anyone on here. But with these types of prices, I guess I'm not perceiving the value to still be there. I don't mind paying more for something if I feel like I am getting my money's worth. Problem is now I'm not sure I'm getting my money's worth. I used to, but now I'm thinking $40 for a buffet that I've already been to is more than I want to spend.

I agree with you Heather - I don't do the buffets anymore. I quit them awhile back though. Except for Biergarten and they had a couple of items in Dec. that had declined in quality from how I remembered them.

Not interested in paying what they're asking if the food is going to decline.

To me it almost sounds like WDW is testing the waters to see what the market will take. In my opinion they are almost to the wall with the amount they are charging for the quality of the products they are serving. When families have to pay $75-$150 (depending on size of family and ages) sooner or later they will stop doing it and go outside the parks.

Even on the dining plan they if they raise it much further I believe that people will stop using it unless it is free with a package.

Just my opinion. :)

Wow - Glad to know we are only doing one buffet/TS this year and doing the QSDP. With those kind of prices and 4 of us, it's outrageous. I mean we used to do two sit downs a day for a two week trip with VERY few CS meals. If the prices keep increasing like they have been, I won't be able to justify paying $160-180 or so for the four of us for each meal.

I do think that as long as the market continues to fill each restaurant each night to capacity with people not waivering on paying the increases, that we will continue to see increases as long as Disney keeps getting full capacity each night. Heck why wouldn't they. I think people have a limit though, and eventually people will do less and less meals at these prices. That or they will have everyone paying for the DP eventually, but even that at $46 pp per day for the summer is just more than we wanted to pay this year.

Possibly maybe disneyworld.com might have prices in the dining reservation section. They list info on some restaurants. You might try there, but again Disney isn't great about updating some stuff on their website.

I have to say, the prices are too high for me that I won't be eating at any of the buffets for dinner, unless I'm on the DDP.

From seeing the price increases on here, we added on the DDP last night. We leave in the morning. Pulled some strings as they said we couldn't add it less than 3 days out but I begged!

So glad to hear it!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH, love to see since you didn't realize how important it would be. I think you'll really enjoy having it and now you won't worry about prices. Heck most of those prices are almost as much as the DP!
