Sorry if this has been discussed to death (couldn't find answer with search), but what's the conventional wisdom about how the new DVC price increase will affect resale prices? Should we expect resale prices to go up because of DVC prices going up?
(Just starting to think about buying DVC. Couldn't jump on board before increase takes effect.)
Thanks to anyone with gut feelings or hard facts about this!

I'm not so sure resales will necessarily go up. The resales are all ending 12 years earlier than the the new SSR.

I expect that the resale prices will continue to go up as the point price goes up at Disney. Here's why:

Disney is likely to keep its right of first refusal going to support the resale market prices.

There are advantages to each of the current resorts and those offset the advantage of SSRs longer lease period.

If the economy improves, DVC will be an even better deal if heavy disounts become more difficult to find.

I wouldn't even be surprised to see the gap between Disney and resale become less as there are more choices in resale and only SSR available through Disney. Many people would prefer the conveniences offered at the current resorts and may be more likely to consider resale.

Disclaimer: This is of course only my opinion. The actual change will depend on market conditions that cannot be fully anticipated or understood. I cannot take credit for any wise choice you make based on this advice.

But thanks to you both, anyway! I guess only time will tell, and we should probably buy sooner if we can, just to be safe!!
