Price Increase

In their weekly update, MiceAge rumored that prices would be raising this Sunday. The 13 month AP deal ends on the 11th, which already had me and others thinking prices were going up this weekend or next. The last two years they've gone up at the end of February, so this is a little bit earlier. They also suggested that the monthly payment option may be taken away for new purchases. They didn't think prices were going to rise that much, but if you're looking to buy this may be the week to do so. I'm still waiting on Disney to announce the cost of Max Plus for AP holders. Maybe they'll announce it with the price increase, though probably not since they aren't ready to use it yet.

for tickets and annual passes? I have been hearing more murmurs too for very soon.

I expect both will go up at the same time as they used to. But they were just giving their heads up that they think it will be this Sunday.

Yeah, I notified the friend who's going with us in March and she got hers. Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks, I'm going to for sure go ahead and buy our tickets tonight for our trip in just under a month.

I wish I knew for sure if we were going to CA this summer for college visits so I could buy now! 95%, but can't buy unless I am definite. But thanks OP for the heads up!

Don't they announce price increases before they actually take effect? Like wouldn't they tell us now but not have them go up till the summer or the end of the year? Or is it normal for them to just increase the prices out of the blue?

Sometimes they give 24-48 hours notice.

From what I've seen they just raise prices out of the blue. But if you buy your ticket/AP before the price increase you have until a certain time to use it and you won't have to pay the difference (probably until the end of the year).

So I placed a deposit on my October stay with a Costco Disney vacation package. Is it fair to expect that whatever price increases that may come will not effect my package price?

I would assume that you're locked in but you should check with Costco to make sure.

If you're positive that you'll visit the parks any time soon you could always buy the ticket now and use it then. If you don't use the ticket before the "expiration" date you will be able to use the amount paid on the ticket as a credit.

Example: Paid $599 for deluxe pass but don't use it until May 2018. May 2018 Deluxe pass is $699. You pay $100 difference for pass.

Hope that helps.

Good to know! Have only dealt w/WDW where there is no expiration, so could always buy ahead w/o worry.

Meh I'm not going to buy my tickets yet.
I have to purchase tickets for WDW in the next couple weeks and don't want too much on my CC at once.
I'll hope the increase isn't much and just buy DL tickets in May as I planned.
I will let my friends that I'm going with about the rumor though.

They used to give a few days notice, or at least the news/rumor sites got a heads up. The last few years they've just raised prices on a Sunday. People show up at the park and prices have gone up. I think the last two years people were on the boards the night before saying buy your tickets now because they're going up in the morning. However, if you have a store that sells tickets locally (some grocery stores and also Disney stores) they usually keep their old stock of cheaper tickets for a short while.

I'll be interested to see what they raise prices to. I'm currently a Signature AP, I wonder if I'll still think it's worth it after the increase. I'm not up for renewal until September.

Think I saw on here that February has been the month that tickets have been raised the past few years? There is a Canadian discount going on now, 25% if you buy before Feb 28th (good until end of the year). With the history, we made sure to buy our tickets in January.
