Price increase!

Thanks to our AWESOME guide, he let us know that a price increase is coming July 1st for AKV of $8 point and July 15th for GCV- not sure of the increase there. Nothing was said about incentives after the increase. We were seriously thinking of adding on, so this may be the thing that pushes us to do it.

This is typical of Disney. They increase the price, then offer discounts, reduce the minimum buy in, and offer extra points.

The threat of a price increase really helps them meet their sales quota.

Very true. Otherwise it would make no sense at all to raise prices in this current economy. Especially with resale prices at their current low rate.

I agree, and that probably means Aulani is going to be at least $120 a point.

Frankly, I think it's nuts to increase buy ins that much when resales are going for a song.

There are quite alot of reports of VGC being close to selling out, so maybe they are raising the price to squeeze that last little bit out.

Yes but they go in a matter of minutes so unless you get the email from TTS and are the first caller out of thousands that get notified, you have little chance. Then you want a specific use year which makes it even more difficult. For all the small stuff I go through DVC, I'd rather pay a little more than go through the aggravation. And the small stuff typically sells close to what DVC sells it at when you end up adding in the $300-$400 closing cost, which adds $12-$16 per point.

I think all but the Sept UY are sold out at VGC, which conveniently happens to be mine. As soon as we are approved for our refinancing, I am picking up the phone!

I also found two perfect resale contracts for the other properties I want...C'mon refinancing!

No body knows how DVD assigns points to a given UY. I do know that every time that they told me that they were sold out, I would tell our Guide that if he didn't find what we wanted, we would have to buy resale. Each and every time magically the points became available.

I thought I had heard that June and Sept were the UY's that were sold out? Hopefully not for your sake!

I heard this, too, but we just added more points tonight thanks to the webcast for our June use year.
