Price increase for DVC...........

I am so glad we added on quickly, soon after original purchase. The $80 we paid seems like a bargain now!

Wow!!! I'm sooooo glad we bought as soon as BCV was available. I never imagined it getting to $95 a point this quickly!

Now is when we need those old threads that were predicting the opening price of Eagle Pines when that was announced. I think people were predicting a price around $100 and that was before the contract extension -- looks like SSR will be opening at a price close to that. Rich, weren't you predicting a price in that ballpark?

w00t!

This makes our SSR net price of $79 seem like a deal!

I wonder what the per point price will be when the last SSR points are sold?

Am I the only one who doesn't remember $89? Was that only for SSR? If so, that at least would explain why I don't remember-both our add-ons were elsewhere. And looking at a previous post (Nick's), I see a date for $84 and a date for $95, but not for $89. Wow! When I first heard that points might go up to $100 each "someday", I didn't realize that it might happen in just a few years. Now I believe it!

I wish I bought more points up front in the beginning!

We bought our resales in 2001 for 1999 prices (according to Nick's list) 30 dollars less than the soon to be 95 dollar price... Talk about wishing you had bought points sooner (earlier??.. hmmm) ... I am sooooooo glad we got 'in' when we did... we paid 64 per point (with closing fees) a mear 13 bucks more per point than the opening cost (minus the wonderful perk of park passes, which make a huge difference.... but still...)
Now even the resale market for the resort we bought (okw) is up 7 + from where we bought and I feel that price point will be quick to go up....

A timeshare that makes a profit.... cool....

Of course we are NOT selling... but it in some twisted way, makes us feel all warm and fuzzy.

I just spoke to someone in MS who said that "they have heard rumblings about a price increase, but it is not yet official"... with that said, she suggested that if you think you want more points, now would be a good time to add on, and that if there is a price increase, she "would be shocked if it wasn't across the board".

I am so glad that our WL for VWL came through last month!! I am sick enough though that I'm trying to decide if we should try to grab another 50 points or so before the increase. We do have some extra money... and does ds REALLY need his college fund? After all, he's got another 8 years to go before then, and he's a REALLY smart boy... :p

Simba's Mom - $89 was only for SSR. You are not going crazy!

Here is average point price per year adjusted using all the great detail PamOKW has collected:

1996 $62.75
1997 $62.75
1998 $62.75
1999 $65.00
2000 $66.25
2001 $73.55
2002 $78.25

Heck, you don't have to feed him if you're gonna take him to WDW regularly. ;) ;)

Here's an addition for the "history" that covers the $89.

August 4, 2003 – Begin sales of SSR at $89 per point ($10 back)

Wow I like the way you think! :p

The increase has been announced on the Member Site. It's $94 (not $95) which keeps it in the $5 increase range they have been using. It takes effect April 4 -- May 9 for current DVC members.

CORRECTED: Per the post below, the site does now read $95 as the price increase.

I don't think this is because sales are going so well. I think they are trying to generate revenue. I was looking at SSR 2 weeks ago. My bf called and talked to my guide this week, and he said they are only 5-8% sold at SSR! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I just looked on the Member site and it is saying $95 now....

Don't delay, act today! Add Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort to your Membership before the price increase May 9, 2004. Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is sure to be a huge hit with Members! And because the Grand Opening in May 2004 is just around the bend, now is the time to take advantage of our special pre-opening pricing if you'd like to add to your Disney Vacation Club Membership. A price increase will take effect on April 4 for non-Members. As a benefit to Members, we're extending this special pricing for an additional month!

On May 9, 2004, the price per Vacation Point for Members will increase from $89.00 to $95.00.

And for a limited time, Members can take advantage of Magical Beginnings savings of $10 per Vacation Point when you purchase an ownership interest equal to 100 Vacation Points or more!

If they have sold 5-8% of the total planned SSR then sales are pretty brisk for a resort that hasn't even opened yet. I forget the size of the total resort but it is bigger than OKW. If the total resort is 500 units, they've already sold 40 which probably puts them roughly on track with what's been built to date. It took 7 years for OKW to sell out (the first time).

Laura's right -- the site does now say $95. (I even wrote $94 down so I think that's what was posted -- maybe they couldn't believe a $6 increase either.) ;) I've corrected my post above.
