I booked my airfare for my family of four last week for $224 nonstop r/t for next April. I know it may seem early to some for me to have booked 10 months in advance, but I have never flown to Orlando for less than $300 pp, so I grabbed the flight while I could.

Good thing I did...out of curiousity, I checked out the price of our flight now to see if it had gone down at all and it is now $773 per ticket.:scared1: Same flight; same seating--coach. I cannot believe how much the price has jumped. That flight down to Orlando is now almost full. Could that be the reason?? The flight back to the area still has quite a few empty seats.

Now there are other flights available at different times of the day that could be taken that are MUCH less, but this is the same flight I paid $875 total for 4tickets just 9 days ago.

Each flight has a certain number of discounted tickets. After they're gone, the next ticket sold is going to be a full price. That may make it seem like prices have increased, but that's not necessarily the case.

Whenever we travel for school vacations I start looking as soon as I know we're going. To me if I can get airfare under $275/pp for a school vacation week its a great deal. I've bought my airfare more than 10 months in advance and have never seen it go lower. I think you got a great deal!

What airline? I know Jetblue prices have been insanely expensive lately..no matter where I want to go!

I had a similar situation in April for our January trip. FIL insists on a nonstop flight and I was able to get 238pp at the lowest. It might have been more than others were willing to pay (say waiting for DING) but I like getting things over with than playing the wait and see game.

Pardon, but what's a DING? I've seen this all over this board and I still can't figure it out..is it a notification of some sort?

My $34 NS from Pit to MCO is now at $122!!! What a difference a few weeks make!

It a 'program' from Southwest Airlines that you download to your computer. It alerts you when there are special sales available from Southwest. You must choose the airports of interest. Definitely pick Orlando in addition to your departing airport. Cost savings can be tremendous...I have 50 dollar return flights.

Go to www.southwest.com - scroll down and look for DING at the bottom of the page in the middle.

rosiep~It is American Airlines. I just doesn't seem fair that someone sitting next to me may have paid $550 more than I did.
