I might have to sell our DVC points (both DH and I lost our jobs within 3 months of each other!) but don't really understand the whole process.

How much money could we recover if we sold the points back?

I'll take a stab at your question but there are others here who are much more knowledgable than me that will hopefully chime in.

I think a lot of it depends on where you own and how many points you have banked or currently available. It seems like BCV and BWV are hot right now, with WLV very close if not right there with them. If you have banked points, and your current year's points available, you'll get a little more out of your contract. If your contract is "stripped"(you've used pretty much all your points, including the current year's) you will probably have to settle for less.

I'm sure I'm a little off on this, but it seems like I"ve seen everywhere from $65 a point to $70 a point recently. I think you pay around 10% commission to your broker, but I'm not positive on this.

Hope others will chime in and give you more advice---that's terrible about your jobs! I hope you both find even BETTER ones quickly!

Good luck!

Jen

Not sure of your exact circumstances but sorry to hear of the unfortunate events. You may want to consider renting your points at $10+/point for a net cash flow inbound of $5-6+ per point after mtce fees and then decide in the fullness of time if you really need to sell

thanks

Sorry to hear about the job problems.

Go to the top of this page & click on DVC resales. This will take you into the Timeshare Store resales that are currently being offered.

You can get a better feel for what you might possibly be able to net on a point sale. If you decide to sell, you might just want to contact them. They can walk you through the process.
