I'd love to make some of the blankets mentioned on the craft thread. What I would love to know is what is a good price for fleece? how much do they normally cost to make one blanket? I can remember seeing printed fleece as low as 4.99 a foot and solid for 3.99 a foot at JoAnns. I only noticed because I was looking for DMIL. At those prices, it would cost around $25 to make a blanket using 2 1/2 yards for each. Is that about what I should use?

Fabric is priced by the yard. At a good sale, you could find fleece for $3.99 or $4.99 per yard. Otherwise it regularly runs anywhere from $5.99 to about $7.99 per yard (with licensed character prints costing on the higher end).

I went to Walmart earlier today and purchased a lot of fleece. The prices ranged from $2.49 a yard to $7.99 a yard. And I know one of the women in the craft thread mentioned using 2 pieces that are 2 1/2 - 3 yards each, but that would make a really big blanket. I think the average size when you check out different directions is 2 yards (that's what the woman at Walmart told me). I think I can make 2 smaller kids blankets with 2 yards of fleece (1 yard each of two colors/prints).

Joann fabric online has a sale that gives you 40% off of 1 item. I bought 6 yards of a Red Sox print and it gave me 40% all 6 yards...not just one. Most of the prices I've seen online have been between $5.99 and $9.99.

My local JoAnn's and WalMart both have remnant or clearance fleece from time to time. At JoAnn's, the pieces are usually smaller than a yard and priced at about 75% off the regular price. You could sew a few together to make a patchwork type of quilt. WalMart, however, was on a hot streak with fleece for a while. Large bolts of various patterns (Disney included) were $1 a yard. I guess they didn't sell very well and they were just trying to get rid of them.

:) JoAnns usually has a pretty good Black Friday sale. Or another idea would be to wait till spring when it all goes on clearance then buy it for the next year. Good Luck!

I just made a Tinker Bell one for my DD. I bought the Tinker Bell fleece with a purple backing. It cost me $35.00. The licensed ones are always almost double of the non licensed. However I like my blankets 3 yards. That way it covers your WHOLE body from head to toe.

I bought my DS an Indianapolis Colts fleece fabric at WalMart this weekend. With the backing it cost me also about $35.00.

Does anyone know where you can purchase Cincinnati Reds or Cincinnati Bengals fleece?????

Sorry, I meant 3.99-4.99 a yard. I'll keep my eye out. Thanks for all of the info. I have a few lap blankets at home and I like them big as well. I'll check them out to see how much I'll need. I'll also check those clearance bins!

I can't find the info on the craf thread re the blankets. Can you lead me in the right direction?

DisneyFanFamily, where did you find Tinkerbell fleece? Thanks in advance!

I got the Tinker Bell fabric at Hobby Lobby. Joann Fabrics told me that no one makes Notre Dame, Cincinnati Reds or the Colts. BUT when I saw the Colts at WalMart, I am wondering if someone somewhere makes the other teams I cannot find.

I have been to Hobby Lobby, WalMart and to Joann with no success in what I am looking for. I have even searched the internet with no luck. So if anyone could help me find those teams, I would be ecstatic!

Some thoughts...
Disneyshopping.com or the Outlet section of that site has three make-your-own kits for $14.99 each, including two fleece panels.
Hancockfabrics.com usually has a good selection of fleece.
Google fleece panel or fleece panels.

I got a make-your-own kit at Joann Fabrics for $4.99. It will make a very large blanket and included two different fleece fabrics- one solid turquoise and one a light yellow with turquoise/light brown puppies on it. It's really cute and since it's no-sew, a young child can tie the knots and then feel really proud of their project. ---Kathy

I found Cincinnati Bengals fleece at Hancock fabrics. The shipping seems high, so I may wait until I can get to a hancock store...I am about 1 hour away from one....

No Cincinnati Reds....they have the panel, but I like the fabric that you can cut to your own size. I like the extra large -3 yards - blankets....Coza.. :cloud9:

Notre Dame is a tough one too because they are very proprietary with their logo- I thought I had seen some at the Rag Shop? oh wait here you go

It showed up on their site. I just went there and it looks like now it's free shipping instead of 40% off.
