Made reservations on 12/23 for AKL from 2/8/09 to 2/13/09, with 4day MYW base ticket, and the plus dining for 2 adults 1 child. We paid in full. Now I see they have the Jan - April special, I checked price for this and I could have saved nearly $500, my question is can I call WDW and get this rate changed, and get the $500 credited back to my CC? Thanks.

Cannot hurt to call and ask. But since you are in the 45 day of arrival window you will pay a penalty to modify or cancel. They actually will cancel the ressie you have and then book the new one. So you would have to have enough credit on your card to pay for the new ressie in full and then wait for the refund on the other.Good luck;)

Thanks, that really does stink, If I would have only been able to see the special before hand, noticed the difference last night but it being christmas and all the offices were closed, so yes the 45 day window is gone.

I would still call when the offices reopen. You never know what kind of pixie dust might be floating around. Maybe they will be able to just adjust the ressie that you have by applying the promo code. I believe the modify fee is 50 dollars so you would still have some cash back in your pocket!:thumbsup2

Yes, you may have to pay a penalty but the savings sounds like it would more than make up for it.

Just curious whether this is a new discount being offered or if it is the 4/3 or discounted room rates on Disney's web site? TIA - I just made a ressie yesterday for mid-January for my dad to join us on our vacation, and anything I can save would be great. :)

No this is the offer, its under the "Special Offer" tab:

You'd be going from a package to a room only reservation, which would be a $100 penalty. But, you would still save $400. Worth it in my eyes.

You would lose dining and would have to pay for that OOP. I find that to be less money, but it depends on your dining style. You could then also obtain your tickets through a discount broker and save a little more.

As far as the room on your credit card...for a room only reservation you only need to make a one night deposit and pay the rest at check-in. They tell you it can take a while to get the refund, but if you ask them to expedite it, they usually do and it will show up 5-7 business days. I've actually had it show up within 2 days before.

Wow theres A LOT of wrong info in this thread. You already have a MYW package. You need to call 407 W DISNEY and see if there are still rooms available with that offer for the dates and resort you want and theyll modify it for you. Since youre within 45 days there will be a $50 change fee but youll have the remaining amount credited back to your credit card. Theres no cancel/rebook, theres no $100 fee. You need to call ASAP

Geez...I believe that it was already advised that the OP call. And I was just passing on info from previous experience. The last time I changed my ressie which was a MYW package and wanted to use a new code the CM cancelled my existing ressie and then rebooked it giving me a whole new ressie number. I had to put down another 200.00 deposit and wait for the other deposit to be credited back to me. Which was a pain because the exchange rate at the time was not in my favor!!:headache:

Just wanted to say thanks for the info from everyone. I wish I would have known about this board a few days ago. But, I WILL be calling first thing in the morning. Thanks again.

That wasnt just directed at you. You had to cancel and rebook because the CM obviously had NO idea what they were doing and I guarantee got in trouble for doing it but thats a differant story. Even if they cancelled and rebooked it they could have done a deposit transfer. Just didnt want the OP to base their decision on mis-info. Every single aspect of a MYW package can be modified except for the lead guests name

:woohoo: I called this morning and was able to actually save $617, and did not have to cancel/rebook and it cost me $0 to do so. Our trip is going to be just that much more fun now.

Yup. Just had a similar experience. I was told (and everything I've ever read, including on Disney's own publications) backs up what I was told.

Moving from a package to a room only reservation (or vice versa) requires canceling one reservation and booking another. Something about WDTC and CRO being separate entities. Under the 45 days for a package--changing is a $50 fee if it lowers your cost and a $100 cancellation fee (even if booking room only instead of the current package). We were told that the refund for the package would take up to 30 days. I think that is ridiculous as it does not take the credit card company that long to get the money back and asked if that could be expedited and a supervisor got on the phone with guest relations and they did so. They (guest relations) said it could still take 5-7 business days, but the credit card posted the refund within 2 days.

Perhaps this is Disney's official policy but there are ways around it? And those you get no fees charged/waived are just getting "a magical" bonus. And good for them!! Or have things changed since October? Both happen frequently, as we all know very well.

Yeah...thats what I thought. A deposit transfer would have made much more sense. But when the long distance charges are adding up and you are feeling confused it was just easier to do what the CM wanted. My poor Visa that month was a mess. (Sorry I did not mean to sound snippy:guilty: )
I am glad that the OP was able to change and not even be dinged the fee:thumbsup2 Awesome savings!!:dance3:
