Price difference between BWV and BCV- scary clown pool discount?

I'm comparison shopping some DVC contracts and it seems one can get BWV for about $10 pp less than BCV. We've stayed at BWV before but not BCV; the clown pool doesn't seem so scary. Is that the reason (scary clown pool v best pool at WDW) for such a difference in price?

BCV has access to Stormalong Bay--which people will pay more for.

I prefer BWV. Stayed at BCV once, the villas are tucked behind the Beach Club...whereas at BWV I feel like it's meant to be part of the resort. Plus BWV has the community hall, and easy access to all the Boardwalk entertainment.

It's SAB and personal preference, I don't think it has anything to do with the a neg reaction to the pool itself. To me personally BCV is standard view at preferred pricing but obviously that's not the majority opinion or it wouldn't be more. BWV is actually even less because you can both buy less points AND have a cheaper price if you use the standard view option.

I am not a fan of clowns, but I appreciate the one at the BWV. ( I think it lowers the competition for rooms there - so easier to book than it might be without the clown). ;) :teeth:

P.S. I love BWV because it's an easy walk to DHS. You can walk to DHS from the BCV, but it's a much longer walk and the boat is slow. It's a bit farther walk from BWV to EPCOT than it is from BCV, but the walk from BWV is still very reasonable. When Star Wars land and Toy Story Land are finished, I think the demand for BWV will increase. If you decide to love BWV, better buy now, LOL. JMHO. YMMV.

OP here, we really did enjoy BWV when we stayed there, and will be staying at BCV this summer. But looking at the layouts, I agree, BWV seems to be more in the middle of the action, and I thought the clown pool was pretty fun(ny). Now I'm reconsidering our choice of resort to buy for DVC....

Me too. The location trumps SAB for me. And the option of Standard view or Boardwalk view rooms.

Our first resale contract was 250pts at OKW and we've used those points at 7 mths to book at just about all the Disney World DVC resorts, both studios and 2 bedrooms. We finally ended up also buying a 100pt resale BWV contract so that we could book at BWV 11 mths out for Food and Wine Festival or Thanksgiving for easy access to Epcot. So glad we did!

BCV is small resort with the shared cost of paying for the operation and maintenance for SAB, so BCV is higher.

The BCV MF's are lower than BWV though. It hasn't always been that way but it's been a few years since it switched in order I believe.

Since the early 2000's after both were open, the resale price for BWV has always been in the range of about $8 to $12 less than BCV. The purchase price for BWV, which opened in 1996, for the sales to all original purchasers before initial sell-out ranged from $62.75 to $67. The purchase price for BCV which opened in 2002 ranged from $75 to $84. It appears that the main reason for the difference in the resale prices is that BWV owners have always needed less than BCV owners to recover their purchase price or make the same profit as, or more of a profit than, BCV owners.

I love SAB and was willing to pay a premium to own at BCV. I also own at BWV because of location and the fact you can get standard view villas at a great price. I choose the resort based on season on the year that I travel in.

Interesting, I wonder why? But that is another can of worms.

The BCV make up a smaller percentage of the BC/YC BCV complex than does the BWV for the BWI/BWV complex.

As an example, when this came up several years ago, we were told that BC/YC/BCV & BWV/BWI were assessed equal amounts for the cost of the boat from EPCOT to DHS. But since BCV made up a smaller percentage of the BC/YC/BCV resort complex (figured by average occupancy) than did BWV for BWV/BWI complex, the BCV owners' cost per point for transportation ended up lower than that of BWV owners

When my daughter was younger, it was SAB and BCV all the way. She is 15 and still prefers Beach Club but she doesn't go to WDW nearly as often now. When husband and I travel alone, I like saving the points at BWV.
