I wrote this post previously in the Budget Boards, and one of the posts suggests that I post it here for better answers. I am staying at Boardwalk villas and beach club villas next month. I rented points from a DVC member. My question is do either of these resorts participate in the refillable mug program. I am getting conflicting informations from different sites. One board states mugs are $11.95 and offer free refills and another states $11.95 and you pay a certain price for a refill, but get 4 ounces more if you purchase the mug. I also read that at BCV refills are at Hurricane Hanah's which closes at 6pm. What if I am thirsty after 6pm, do I have to pay full price somewhere else. I also read that Beaches and cream is a refill site for both these resorts. Any help would be appeciated...Thanks

I can only answer for BCV. They have mugs in the room (on top of the TV stand in the living room) that you can purchase. You can get them refilled at both B&C and Hurrican Hanna's.

We don't buy them. We find it easier to buy some soda at Publix and keep it in the fridge in the room.

I've always wanted to ask this, Why bother with one? All the DVC Villas have a fridge. Just stop at Target or one of the grocery stores and buy a few 2 Liters for $.99 each. We usually buy a few 20 oz. 6 packs so we can just grab a soda and go. No need to return the cup to the room before you hit the parks, just toss the empty in the nearest receptacle.

Both have the refillable mug program. I'm not sure of the exact price, but it's close to what you were quoted. Refills are free at both resorts. At BW you can refill at BW Bakery, Leaping Horse Libations, and sometimes at the Spoodles Pizza Window (they wouldn't let us in Mar and made us go to the Bakery). At BC you can refill at Hurricane Hanna's and Beaches & Cream. As far as filling your BW mugs at B&C, I'm under the impression that only BC mugs can be refilled there.

:)
Thanks for the info. We upgraded our reservation by renting DVC points from someone here on the board (she was excellent and worked very hard with Disney to secure my reservations on such short notice) Anyways, my kids were concerned over the mug situation...they are big drinkers..I am also relieved as well. I am staying at BW for only 1 night and BCV for 4, so I will probably purchase once I get to BCV. Thanks to all of you!!!!

In response to the idea of stopping for soda on the way to DVC:
This is something I considered and a great idea with the soda cans...no running back to the room. My problem is that I am staying at BWV 1 night and switching to BCV for the remainder of my trip. I am not renting a car so how is all this soda getting to my final destination. I am told bell services will move my luggage, however unsure about groceries...wil be posting soon under transportation for advice..to rent a car or not. Thanks

Disney will move all your belongings. They can even arrange to refrigerate perishables (although I wouldn't do tihs with a lot of food since something could go wrong). Do whatever is comfortable for you this trip. Many members don't find the need for the refillable mug. The refrigerators, even in the studios, are a very good size.

We love the refillable mugs we have atleast 1 from every resort we have stayed at and bring them with us every trip just in case we make it over to the other resort for a visit or a meal or what have you. We have mugs from all the All Stars Coronado Dixie (POR) OKW BWV and VWL. Get one and bring it with you every time you go to the pool etc then you just hop over to the snack counter etc and get a refill well worth the money and you can bring them with you on future visits. We have been using our All Star ones since 96 when we bought them.

I think the confusion might be that at Pleasure Island they Also have refillable beverage containers. With those "mugs" you get 4 extra oz. of mixed drinks when you order a refill. I don't know if any of the resorts has that or not. Old Key West at one time had to pay for refills but there mugs cost less to begin with.

The refillable Mug programs are usually resort specific. While I'm not certain, I don't think you can buy one mug and use it at both resort or for future trips either.

I agree with Dean each resort has it's own mugs mind you I forgot my Coronado mug one trip and used my All Stars mug and no one said anything about it and I asked if I could use it. I continue to use our mugs on each and every visit I won't buy a new one for any resort until I have to. So until our mugs have broken or been lost we keep using them and again no one has ever questioned it at any of the resorts.

On our last trip home to BCV we didn't rent a car either, but our town car service made a 20 minute stop at a grocery store where we stocked up! when we got to the resort the bell service took all our stuff including the groceries and brought it up to our villa.

We also bought the refillable mugs and found it quite convenient to use while at SAB. We also brought them with us to the parks to keep our beverages hot/cold. Every morning on our way out we would get the mugs filled with coffee at the Cape May cafe in the lobby. One tip - if you like iced coffee be sure you fill your mug up with ice in your room so you don't have to stand in line to get it.

has anyone heard the rumor that you will have purchase a new mug each year . I swear i read that on this board .

I did read that the new SSR mugs have the year 2004 printed on them.

Will that lead to having to purchase one each year and only being able to use them during the year that is printed??

Could happen!

Not likeley I would think they wouldn't even question it at all. When at VWL we use our mug we bought back in 01 and if we stop over at Dixie our cup actually says Dixie and 25th anniversary on it and we still use it there and it is no longer even called Dixie Landings. So I wouldn't worry to much about it at all.

The technical rule has always been use it for a single visit. WDW has gotten more strict about enforcing it. I know that many people were told they could use it for future trips, this was NEVER the intent. But since many CM told people it was forever I'd use it until they say no.

thanks for the info we going soon and thought it was a good idea especially for the pool.
