We are going to DW in 10 days. Yeah!
Can we just go over to the preview center and request a look?
My guide is on vacation so I can't ask him.
Are there certain times?

Thanks for the info,
Deb

I can't imagine that they would turn a current member away from looking at the new AKV units. Why not just call the DVC number when you are down and ask?

I seem to think that there are hours each day at the Preview Center for DVC members to go to. There are guides there too I think, but not the formal presentations. I thought it was 5-7 pm maybe??

I believe the hours are 5-7 for current members to view the models - or they were for SSR after the resort opened and they stopped having the member open houses during the day.

We ran into that once. We had attended the member open house shortly after they opened the new preview center and had the models open at SSR. They had a 2 bedroom lock-off and a Grand Villa open, with a guide posted in each room. We thought the rooms looked nice, but weren't ready to purchase at that time.

About a year-18 months later we were down and on our last day were basically ready to buy into SSR, but wanted to view the models again first. They wouldn't let us! We didn't want to bother anyone - just wanted to peek at the models, but they said they weren't open for drop-ins, and we'd either have to make an appt or come back between 5-7. For us, getting to SSR between 5-7 wasn't possible as we were leaving that day, so we decided not to add on then.

Now I'm glad we didn't - if we had, we wouldn't own 255 pts at AKV! :)

We'll be down there in April and I don't know if we'll get to SSR to visit the models, but I do hope to get to AKV just to soak up the ambiance!

We just visited the model units on Friday (3/9)! The AKLV models are in the theater. Just walk in the front door and the models are right there...you can't miss them.

They had a studio and one-bedroom unit. The units are very themed..along the lines of the AKL. The units were dark but warm and inviting, overstuffed leather furniture. There is a glassed in shower next to the whirlpool tub. There is an extra full bath in the entry way of the one bedroom. Oh yeah, and plasma tv's in the bedroom and living room too!

We were there during the afternoon open house from 5-7 pm. We didn't ask if they were open at other times.

When I was there on this past Wed my guide didn't think they were doing an open preview for the AKV. He said they were still doing the open preview of SSR from 5-7(I think) but for the AKV it needed to be scheduled.
I saw it on Wed and purchased 160pts on Friday.
Now the fun begins, planning the first trip as a DVC member.:cool1:

We toured them Monday night. They are open from 5-7 for current DVC members. Just walk into the cinema at SSR.

There was a guide in the room, and she was very happy to show the rooms.

Be sure to check out the sofa beds, as they are VERY comfortable.

Tours are every 1/2 hour on the 15 and 45 minute mark. (ex: 11:15,11:45) We just went there and they had someone walk us through.

Pennyguy, Did they know you already owned? Would much prefer going at times other than 5-7.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies.
I'm excited to see them.

I think I mentioned it during the tour. We toured around with a super nice guy. Really made it more enjoyable. He didn't try to sell us he was just friendly and he helped us switch our guide. Plus you can aske about the next rumor they have;)

I am not not completly sure but I think you have to walk with someone. Maybe not at 5-7 but like I said not sure. We didn't want to go there that late. Then again we were at BCV on the Tuesday they opened the AKV preview and were like the 20th people to go through. We hadn't seen any pictures or anything . So we left BCV almost Immediately.
