I can't read and ride in a car, but roller coasters haven't bothered me. Granted, I haven't been on one in 10 years. :lmao:I know I can't do Mission Space or teacups, can't handle spinning... Dramamine knocks me out. Any other suggestions? DD can get a little motion sick too, any suggestions for her, she's 9!

Bonine works better than Dramamine, and I find it doesn't make me drowsy. Best part is, one dose will last for about 12 hours, so you can take one early in the day and ride to your heart's content.

I was even able to do the Teacups without adverse effects. :)

I know, it's a big problem. :crazy2:
I can't stand spinning and like you, I can't take Dramamine or Bonine, either.

I can tell you though, that I can ride the Green Team (non-spinning) side of M:S with no problem at all. I think you might be okay on it.

Some people swear by ginger, but I just avoid the spinning rides, period. There's plenty to do at WDW without risking ruining my day! :)

:debswalk:

I can ride everything at DW except the teacups and the space orbitor thing in Futureworld! (and I am prone to the queseys:eek:)
I have a little ginger 1st thing in the AM, I think it helps!

I have the same problem!! Honestly, I can't even go on the carousel..and have to close my eyes in Pilharmagic when Aladin and Jsmine are flying on the magic carpet!!! I am anxious to hear about others experiences....I haven't heard of Bonine (sp?) I may have to try that because dramamine makes me sooo tired!

Last time I visited WDW I used Bonine. It makes me drowsy but I discovered that if I took 2 at bed-time they would last the entire next day.

Worked great :thumbsup2, but I did stay away from the Tea-Cups and Star Tours!

I haven't heard of Bonine (sp?)

It's OTC, should be next to Dramamine in the stores in most places. I first used it on a cruise -- I was seasick and the front desk handed me an envelope with a week's worth of Bonine, and it did the trick. Now I take it any time I'm going out into ocean water.

As for drowsiness, since the stuff's pretty safe, I'd try taking some before your trip and see how you react to it.

I so very desperately wanted to do the teacups and M:S (orange) that I, um...well, I sort of OD'd on Bonine. I took two before DH and I rode the teacups...no biggie. When we got to Epcot, I took two in anticipation of riding M:S and when we were in line, I took two more. So I had four coursing through my system and I survived M:S. Did I need all four? I don't know. Did it make me drowsy? Surprisingly, no...and I'm a sucker for anything that even hints at drowsiness. Would I recommend it to others? Since I don't know if there is a warning about excess dosages on the Bonine box, I can't say for sure...just that it worked for me. :confused3

Oh my gosh, please be careful! Just because it's OTC does not mean that it's harmless!
I had the exact opposite reaction to Bonine. I took a test dosage before my trip and very soon after, took a little 12 hour nap!!!

i use meclizine, which is generic bonine (bonine is PRICEY). it's OTC but is kept behind the pharmacy counter, so you have to ask for it. you can get a bottle of 100 pills for less than $10. i get HORRIBLE motion sickness, heck, i can get queasy if i move my head too fast, and the meclizine has been a lifesaver!

I get horrible motion sickness (my stategy for Star Tours is closing my eyes and counting how many times we go left) and always seem to forget the dramamine. I found that sucking on a mint while I ride whatever I think will make me sick helps. I usually carry around a pack of Icebreakers and end up fine. (Though you'll still never find me on whichever Mission Space team spins. :))

Have you tried the "non-drowsy" Dramamine? It's the only thing that works for me. It is the more-expensive 24 hour version.

I get motion sickness very easily, and I take Dramamine every morning before we arrive at the parks. Even so, I rode Star Tours once and had to go back to the room for the rest of the day. I rode Astro-Orbiter after taking Dramamine, and was sick for the rest of the day, but was able to stay at the park.
I will never attempt the tea cups or Mission Space. I know my limitations.

Mission Space - Green team has no spinning involved. I can't go on a merry-go-round but have no troubles with green team of mission space.

I have used Bonine since I was a little kid. You take 1 chewable tablet 30 mins before you ride and they last for 24 hours. You only need 1 tablet every 24hrs. I hope this helps.

Bonine works for me. I take it before the bus ride in the morning and then again early evening. It helps me through the normal motion problems. But I don't tempt the fates...no Teacups or spinning stuff for me. Green side of Mission Space was no problem, Soarin', the roller coasters were great. I can even do Star Tours or Dinosaur with the Bonine. I was a little worried when I walked into TSM and saw the cars spin but a very kind CM explained that there is enough time between each spin that most people don't have a problem. I was hesitant but she was right. I had no problems.

My dd who is 8 began getting car sick. We tried Dramamine which made her so tired it defeated the purpose of going anywhere. Because once we got there she was so sleepy she could not enjoy herself. Our pediatrician gace us a prescription for Transderm, which is a patch that goes behind her ear, works wonders. She isn't tired and does vomit. We apply it about 2 hours before we leave & they are wonderful.

I am very, very susceptible to motion sickness, but now manage to ride Tea Cups, Astro Orbiter, and Mission Space Green (that one actually isn't tough). How? Focus on something inside the ride. DON"T look around. For example, look at your watch in your lap. Just don't look up. It's not exactly "enjoying" the ride, but it keeps the kids from having to do it without me. I still can't handle corkscrews, but it helps me manage with spinning.

So mission space: green version is do-able for us queezy types??? :confused3 I didn't try it, I was too nervous about it :scared:
