that you can only go on one Disney trip with your kids. At what age would you go? We took DSD and DSS when they were 4 and 8 and again when they were 6 and 10. Now I am thinking about trying to talk DH into another trip with both stepkids and DD. I was thinking about early spring of 2011 when DD is 2.75 and still free, DSD is 9.75 and still a child and DSS is 14. But if this is the last time we take DSD and DSS, I'm wondering whether we should look into going sooner or waiting longer.

If i only had one opportunity to go i'd go when the kids could remember it. Since mine are 2 and 4 now i'd probably go when they are a 8 and 6 or 10 and 8.

1st. trip - DSD5, DD7 - neither remember anything
2nd. trip - DS 9, DD11 - much better but still a bit overwhelming
3rd. trip - DS12, DD15 - absolutely loved it so much that we will also do
4th. trip - DS13, DD15 - this Sept. with a laid-back, action-packed, fun-filled week.... They are very excited about this trip!!

I would wait til your DD is at least 40" and over 4 (5-7 yrs). I wouldn't wait to long as I would want them to still believe in magic (not those are people dressed up).

My DD turned 4 on the last trip we took and she knew that the characters were people just dressed up, but she still loves it!

Anyway, I loved going b/n the ages of 11-14 (still do), so I think that would be a great time to go with your family.

When my second DS is about five is when I'd do it.

Our first DS went at the age of 7, but he visited Disneyland at 3 1/2 and 5. He has memories, so that would be the time frame for our second one. However, in December, our first will be 10 and our second will be 16 months.

I don't think there's a perfect time, although I'm on the fence about under the age 15 months, if the child is the only one.

I'm not pretending, lol...we ARE only going once. Next April, when they are 10 and 6. We waited until those ages so they would both enjoy and remember it.

I don't know. I bet you will find a way of going again.

Look at me. I thought the first trip would be the one time. I know this next trip won't be my last.

Already thinking about taking my other niece (DL) when she is 3 or potty trained. Just have to save up some more money.

Just so you know-my niece (4yrs) still thinks the characters are real. She wanted to bring her Stitch costume (thanks Sherry) to WDW so she could dress up as Stitch and get her picture with the real Stitch.

I took my DD when she was 5 and she remembers everything. She is 7 now and we are going again. This time is different, she is not into the princesses as much, but is just as excited. This will be the last for a long time. I am not sure when we will be able to return. I waited until I thought she was old enough and able to remember things. I must say I am glad I waited. It would have been a great vacation regardless, but now we talk about things that happened and when we look at pics she knows where they were taken and talks about what is going on and what park. Each person is different, though.

i would say 5 or 6. I think the character magic starts to disappear in the tween years. so i'd like to go when they would still be amazed by things like that.

i am so fortunate that i know we will be back many times, hopefully every other year if i can talk DH into it. So we are taking DS at about 2.5 for his first time. He might not remember, but we will. and knowing we can go back, i don't mind taking him so young. otherwise, i would have wait until 5-7 probably.

I'd say.. maybe 7? I don't know.. I think it's magical to take them when they are still young.
Mine were 2 and 4 the first time we went in early 2007 and it was GREAT. That being said, it's fun to be able to do more as they get a bit older, too.

I think the solution is to just go more than once :)
