He did come from Disneyland. I don't know details but I do remember that he was definitely not well liked by Disney-philes. I seem to remember that he was responsible for the generic-ification of the park...same merchandise in every store, no specialty shops, etc.
He pretty much ruined the stores, then Eisner brought him into the parks to cut costs. As someone said, he changed all the merch to the same thing everywhere. And everywhere you went someone was trying to sell you something. People were glad to see him leave Disney, and could have predicted he'd mess up the Gap. Wonder where he'll wind up now?
