Ok, now that everyone has raved about the wonderful breakfast at BOMA can someone explain what exactly pressed pot coffee is?

It's just another method of making/brewing coffee. You can buy a pressed pot relatively cheaply. I got mine at Target for less than $20.

Basically, it's a glass cylinder with a lid that has a filter that you can "press" down. You put freshly ground coffee into the glass and then fill it with hot water. You stir it and then let it brew for 3 or 4 minutes. After that, you press the filter down to the bottom of glass cylinder to remove the grounds from the coffee. (There's a handle to do that). The coffee is now ready to drink. That's probably not the best description, but I hope you can get the idea. I think coffee made this way tastes better than the "brewed" coffee that comes from coffeemakers. JMHO. YMMV.

P.S. The African coffee at BOMA and the Kona coffee at the Poly really does taste better than most store brands, and it is waaaaaay better than that stuff most of the rest of Disney serves.

Yes! The press pots at Boma and Kona Cafe produce excellent coffee! You must try it to fully appreciate!

Good job describing, CarolMN!

That sounds like what we in the UK call a cafetiere. I have a mini one at home. They are very popular over here.

That's exactly what it is and I agree the Boma pressed pot coffee is wonderful - better than the standard stuff.

My wife got me a coffee press for my birthday, and even the same coffee we use in the drip maker tastes better out of the press pot. Go figure!

I'm not up on pressed pot coffee, maybe it does taste better than brewed coffee of the same brand. I just might have to pick one up and try it.

I don't think that's what makes the coffee at Kona Kafe taste better though, but it may help a bit. The Kona Kafe uses Hawaiian Kona coffee beans. The cheapest I've been able to buy it is about $27 a pound. Very, very good coffee.
