I am going to be in Disney in December and thought it would be cool to get some of those pressed pennys from the machines for my scrapbook while I am there. Does anyone know how much they cost? I thought it was 50 cents plus the penny but wanted to be sure. Also, do you know if I can use Canadian pennies. I got a brand new roll of shiny pennies but won't bother to bring them if I can't use them in the machines. Thanks :santa: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

The pressed pennies are 50 cents plus the penny. I'm not sure if it matters if you use Canadian pennies or not. In addition to the pennies there are also some pressed quarters which I believe cost 5 quarters total. Good luck and have fun!

I believe you are right about it costing 50 cents. I am not sure whether a canadian penny will work or not. Are they the same size as an American penny?

50 cents plus a penny for the pennies.... and 5 quarters for a pressed quarter.

No, the machines cannot take Canadian coins. Also, use pre-1982 pennies as those had more copper. (The ones post-1982 contain more zinc and sometimes have an unfavorable swirly effect when pressed.)

Thanks verymuch for the list. I was wondering if there was such a list and now I don;t have to go looking.

I am sorry to hear that the machines don;t take canadian pennies. Now I will have to find lots of american pennies. Could be tough in Canada.

Thanks so much for the list... I'm adding it to my package... We're going in September... It's my first time and I am so excited! I've been asking since we got married (6 years in September, as a matter of fact)...

Thanks again!

WOW! I didn't realize that there were so many pressed pennies to obtain!

They also sell in the stores now a collecters book for the pressed coin. I picked one up last time I was there in MGM at TOT gift shop.

Collecting pressed pennies are so much fun. I would get just as excited as my kids when we would find the next machine. :teeth:

If you have any 35mm film containers, they are perfect for holding quarters (in one) and pennies (in another) for doing the pressed pennies. It makes it easy to just pull out the containers for the money you need for the pennies.

We used to do this. I have stumbled across the M & M mini tubes. They are a little bigger than the 35mm containers. You can fit more money in them. It also works great if you put two quarters then one penney and fill the tube that way. Hope this helps. :teeth:

I loved getting pressed pennies. I did also get one Pressed Quarter at the Polynesian with "Happiest Celebration" on it. That was my special "expensive" one.

Don't miss the BABY characters - (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy & one other - I forget who!!!) in TOONTOWN!!! I only got Mickey and Minnie so I would have some more to obtain next visit! They are soooo cute!

Can't wait to buy a pressed penny book and check out the site cynderella mentioned which I don't think I have been to. :teeth:

My kids and I decided to do pressed pennies this last trip rather than pins. It was fun looking for the machine (we had a list but still had to hunt for some that were in corners, etc) I helped out one fellow and his family from the U.K. They had pennies and US dollars but no quarters so we exchanged. He laughed at my quarter supply! He said I was a bank. It was nice to have the quarters and pennies ready and not be digging in my bag for them as so many others were doing--hoping I had some change.

How long have they had these machines? Did I just not ever notice them before?

I just found out they've had them since 1994.I'm glad I read about it before I left because I never noticed them before! But I tend to stay out of the shops where a lot are located.
