Not to sound too out of the loop, but what are these and where do you get them? Cost?

Thanks

Howdy,

Pressed pennies are pennies that are flattened and imprinted with the image of a Character or characters. They cost .51 cents and you can get them in most stores or Disney owned hotels, you can also purchase a book to put them in for $6.50-7.00. They're very cool, and cheap!!!

There are machines at all the resorts and throughout the parks. The cost is 51 cents. Basically your penny is flattened and an imagine is impressed into it. The imagines include just about every character. Most machines have 3-4 choices. Almost every gift shop sells a little book to hold them. It's a fun, cheap souviner for kids and adults. With DD we used it as an incentive to visit parks and resorts she did have much interest in.

Go to allearsnet.com. They have a list you can print of all the pressed penny locations and which designs are at each. That way you know where to look for them. This was our kids souvenir for the trip. Also, go to your bank before going and get rolls of quarters and pennies, so you are not hunting for them. Then, get a large and small tube that mini M&M's come in. The large tube holds the quarters perfect and the small tube for the pennies.

Pressed pennies can also be found all over the country. We got started at WDW but have continued on our trips to San Antonio, San Diego, Boston, Chicago, Marco Island, zoos and museums in our home state and even in airports!

Fun! :rotfl:

We got ours at the Contemporary. They also have a press machine for silver (I think either a nickle or a quarter).

This was one of my DS12 and DS9's favorite things to do.

Every time we'd go in a store or get done with a ride, they'd be looking for the pressed penny machine. They each bought one of the souvenir coin holders and had a blast filling them up! :bounce:

There are still some open spots, so I guess that means we'll have to go back soon! :rotfl:

I must say that my DS and DD loved buying the penny presses.
Bring some quaters and some shiny pennies! :cool1:

My girls loved doing this especially my 8 yr old.We ran out of quarters and pennies both.I'm going to take more this time.April ::MinnieMo
