I am trying to get enough money together so we can get some nice suvys..My question is i hear there are pressed penny machines all over dw.Do they have a map or something showing you where they all are? My hubby would kill me if id have to go in all the stores to find them.. lol.
thanks Lori ::MinnieMo

I don't know of a map but there are machines in all kinds of places. At ride exits, in the stores, at the resorts almost everywhere.

Just carry quarters & pennies with you and get the ones you see on your way around.

Thank you .. At least the kids and i can decide on who we want and then go to those places... thanks again cant wait till january ... Lori

As you can tell from the list, it's sort of hard NOT to find pressed penny machines. Our family just got back from WDW and the kids LOVED doing the penny machines. We only allowed them to choose 1 design in the machines where there are 3 offered and they each still ended up with 20 pennies.

Here's a really good suggestion that we had read on these boards somewhere and we used on our trip. Before your trip, buy a package or two of m&m minis that come in the tubes. Then fill it up with 2 quarters/1 shiney penny, 2 quarters/1 shiney penny, 2/1, 2/1, 2/1, got it? That way you don't waste time searching for quarters and pennies. You could also do 1 tube per collector and when it's gone, it's gone.

I will warn you though, we enjoyed the pressed pennies so much that we had to refill our money tube a couple of times.

Also, when going through the airport on the way down, the money tube was in my backpack and they opened the backpack to verify that it was just money. Afraid to even think what it looks like.

Have fun with your pennies!!!

Sorry, but I forgot to mention, did you know that WDW sells pressed penny books? They are these small plastic books that have clear sleeves to slide the pennies into. I think they were around $5.00 and well worth it. We used a sharpie marker and labled one for each child and they always had a place to put their penny in (didn't lose any!!!).

Hope that helps.

I've heard so much about these pressed pennies that i'm dying to see what one looks like ! anyone have a picture ?? :D

Here is a non-Disney one to give you an idea of what they look like.
Tip: Use your shiniest pennies.

Another tip: Use pre 1982 pennies. Anything after that isn't all copper!

My son and I took our vacation in 2001 and since then the pressed pennies have been a staple souvenier for anywhere we go. It is cheap and he still gets so excited! I also recommend making sure to have the shiniest pennies you can find.

I love the pressed pennies!! They make great souvenirs and are so cheap.. They are a great thing to bring back for coworkers and kids friends or teachers.. They are small and fit in suitcase easily.. I always bring a baggie in the backpack so that as I find them I get one and put it in my baggie and that way I wont lose any of them.. The childrens friends love them!

Thanks for posting the link to pictures of Pressed Pennies! they are adorable and i'll make sure to bring some shinny pennies !!

My 2 children love the pressed pennies too. They were so excited every time they saw a pressed penny machine at WDW. We bought them each a pressed penny book, and they have both taken them for show and tell at school.

We also get pressed pennies at other attractions and include those in the book.

We are looking forward to more WDW pressed pennies in Feb. '05!!!!!!!!!

Pressed penny books are currently $6.50 plus tax.

The easiest and cheapest way to clean pennies is to soak them in white vinegar for about a minute and then clean with toothpaste. Yes any old toothpaste will do. Makes them clean, shiny and perfect for pressing.

I found that many of the penny machines were replaced with 75 Years of Mickey pressed quarter machines. They cost $1.25 a piece. I really had to hunt around on this last trip to find pressed penny machines that were in working order. Many had "out of order" signs on them.

We have been collecting pressed penies about 3 yrs now.. Another idea you can do with them.. My son asked his pop pop to drill a tiny hole in it and he put it on a necklace.. I then found small links at walmart and we have made key rings for some of his favorite teachers...The m&m tubes and film containers work real nice too.
Thanks for the areas of where they can be found ..
Lori

With regard to machines that aren't working, we have left the needed coins and asked CMs to press the pennies for us and mail them to our home upon return. And got them.
