Pressed pennies?

I'd love to have some pressed pennies for souvenirs. I've read on previous post about having a whole roll. Do the machines make different pressed pennies, or are they all the same? So how many pennies do I need to bring with me? Also what about quarters?

Each penny press generally has about three or so choices of designs to choose from and almost every attraction has a penny press. I'm not certain how many presses this would amount to and I wouldn't even venture a guess as to how many pennies you'd need if you wanted to collect them all.

There are quarter presses as well but not as many. In fact I think there's a data base roaming around here somewhere that points out most of the presses but for the life of me I don't know where I put mine.

Oops ... somehow posted twice and I can get this one to delete :-(

My grandkids had a great time collecting pressed, or "smooshed" as they called them, pennies last summer.

I saved quarters and pennies for months in advanced, then put 20 quarters and 10 pennies each in a bunch of snack size ziplock baggies.

We bought penny press collection holder thingies at the Emporium in MK ... I think they were about $6 each. If I remember correctly they held 36 smooshed pennies and 6 smooshed quarters.

The total cost was $31.86:

$6.00 — holder
$18.36 — 36 pennies @ 51¢ each
$7.50 — 6 quarters @ $1.25 each

Wm and Cissy loved searching for the penny presses, choosing which penny(ies) they wanted/needed and then pressing the pennies. And nearly a year later they love pulling out their holders and looking at the pennies. They are looking forward to collecting another batch this summer!

You should look at these pages....

This one talks about the pennies

and these are lists of the machines and different designs at WDW.

Thanks, Gytchy! That www.wdwig.com/pennylist.htm site is great. So specific on where the machines are located and what they print. We are first timers so I don't want to spend a lot time looking for penny machines. We may just do some at CBR after checking in as we aren't going to the parks on check-in day. And the kids don't know we are even going to WDW so I'm not sure what souvenirs will interest them.

Thanks again.
