Hi! I'm making a scrapbook (12x12) of my recent Disney vacation and wanted to put a few of the pressed pennies that I made while I was there.

The thing is ...

I'm not exactly sure how to do this or if its a good idea. I've been reading lots about making sure everything that goes into the scrapbook is acid-free. (The pennies probably aren't).

So does anyone have any ideas about how to store the pennies a scrapbook or if I should even be putting them in? I don't want to have them sitting in a jar somewhere ...

Thanks in advance for the help! :D

I used acid free keepsake pockets by fiskars to put our pressed pennies/quarters in our scrapbooks.

If you want to include them in your book I'd put them in little keepsake pockets, too. I don't think they'll harm your pages in a little clear envelope.

Another thought is to get a pressed penny album. They have little pockets for your pennies and quarters and you can keep them all together.

Either way is better than keeping them hidden in a jar. I agree. Let us know what you decide to do.

I picked up the little "pockets" for my sone first curl of hair - those would work great for each penny! That gets my vote too!

Thanks for the suggestions! I will have to go and hunt the pockets down at my art store. I never realized how much work is involved in making a scrapbook! You guys have some really great ideas :)

I too used the pockets. And then went one step further. Since the penny was smaller than the pocket I used, I adhered the penny to some cardstock which still had room for a bit of journaling & then slipped it into the pocket.

Follow link in signature to WDW scrapbook & take a look at the Main St USA page (#1 or 2 pg layout) to see what I mean.

The penny is not in contact with any pictures. The worst thing that could happen is it does something to the little square of cardstock in the pocket.

I just bought a package of the small keepsake holders. If you really want to clean up your pressed pennies try some Brasso. It works great! I was advised to use some Taco Bell hot sauce and that would do the trick...no such luck. Brasso was the ticket! I am hoping to incorporate the pennies on a spread. Have you put several pennies in 1 pocket or do you put one in each pocket?
