hi. I wanted to get some of those pressed coins as little extra souveniers. what do they cost to use the pressed coin machine? do I also need to supply a penny as well?

also, is there a map or list of the locations anywhere?

I know there is a list somewhere, but I am not sure where.

Yes, you need to supply your own pennies. The machines take 2 quarters and your penny and return your pressed penny.

If you are doing pressed pennies, please use pre-1980 pennies. They are pretty much copper. The modern ones are copper coated zinc and will pit/tarnish easily. Thanks .USGOV.

For the penny machines, you need 2 quarters and a penny. Shiny pennies work best -- I either save up the shiny ones before a trip, or swap out dull ones for shiny ones in the store where the penny machine is located.

There are also machines that press coins other than pennies (nickels, dimes, quarters), and these cost more.

You can find a list here:

Last month I was on a business trip to Anaheim so I ended up doing my first solo trip to Disneyland. It felt strange to be there without the family so I gave myself the task of going on a hunt for the penny machines. I wanted to collect at least one from each land to create a framed collage. You can get a map from the cashiers in the stores, The first shop I went to in New Orleans Square was out but I was able to get one from the shop in Adventureland. It shows all the presses in DL, DCA and DTD. (There is also a nickel press) They really are a nice and inexpensive way to commemorate a trip.

Actually they aren't. They tend to be newer and as whoever mentioned, they aren't the same metal makeup and don't hold up as well. Clean, pre-1980s are best.

We have gotten a pressed quarter before in Fantasyland of the princesses. I think it was a $1 plus the quarter you want pressed but it's been awhile.

Great hint! Already have a roll of US quarters and a handful of cents for my next trip! Gonna try to press some Canadian cents as well.

Canadian pennies carry the same year recommendation. They carried copper later (into the 90s), but in decreasing amount of composition.

For Pressed nickels/quarters, this would be expensive, but worth it IMHO, use silver coins...

As others have mentioned, there are pressed penny machines (two quarters plus a penny), pressed nickel machines (three quarters plus a nickel), and pressed quarter machines (four quarters plus a quarter). I mentioned the price in terms of quarters because the machine only accepts quarters plus the coin to be pressed. So make sure you have quarters with you as well as the coin to press.

In addition to the machines in the file, there are also holiday machines. I know they had one on Main Street (at the exit to Lincoln) for the 2013 holidays.

I can't believe these are still only $.51. They cost that much when I was a kid 20 years ago. I'm going to have to remember to bring my change. My son will love these.

I forgot about pressed coins! I am going to need to take photos of the ones I already have so I don't get any double ups.

This recent thread has more penny pressing info and another link to an illustrated map w/checklist:

The more precise date for the change from 98% copper to 0.8% is 1982, so anything pre-82 is best.

The same is not true for pre-1965 silver dimes and quarters. Silver is actually harder and doesn't imprint as well.

The most important thing is that they are clean. Pennycollector.com has a zillion user-submitted ways to clean pennies under the "tips" tab.
