I believe its pre 1982. Also if you wash them in vinegar first it seems to clean them up and make them better looking after pressing. or thats what I've read I can't stand the smell of vinegar so can't bring myself to do it.

Thanks, I wash them in ketchup, try this, no smell. Just put them in overnight or few hours, you will see how shiny they will become but not like new ones and eventually they will go dark again.
It is pre-1982. We soak ours in vinegar for a while before our trip to clean them up. The newer ones work fine, but the silver color shows through after they are pressed. So its kind of a personal preference thing. The copper content is much higher in the old pennies so you don't get the color difference. There are also quarter machines scattered throughout the parks and 2 dime machines inside Space Mountain. The dates don't matter on those.
I tried new ones at Six Flags, they were shiny but you could see some white metal where they were streatched. They also were not straight, kind of bend. maybe something was just wrong with their machine, do not know.

Pre 1892 pennies are a pure copper alloy throughout the coin. With the rise in cost of copper they switched to a copper plate over zinc (the gray). The issue is that as the post 1982 pennies age the zinc can oxidize and flake off from the coin and look bad. Pre 1982 pennies will age uniformly.
I think I saw some one selling copper blanks not pennies for these machines.
Collecting is an especially nice excuse to visit the entire resort as there are machines in all the resort hotels, parks and minigolf, water parks and shopping areas.
Question - I know that you can store the quarters and pennies in the tube that comes with mini M&Ms. I read that the best way to do this is to stack 2 quarters and then one penny and repeat. This way they are sorted when you need them.
Does anyone one know how many fits into one tube?
DP soaked her pennies in ketchup and they turned sort of...pinkish. I'd rather do the vinegar myself. And all hers were 1982 and before. They turned out great though! The post-1982 ones were kind of weird in comparison, streaky and blotchy with silver peeking through (or is it nickel?).
