My son has discovered pressed coins. Yesterday we were at Six Flags and he got three there. I asked him this morning if he'd like to do that in November at WDW, and he seemed very interested.:)
I know people has talked about finding them at WDW. Does anyone know if they can be found at the Disney stores or online?
Thanks in advance.

Well I went out on the 'net and found the info. Plenty of info!:)
Even found the sites that list the penny machines at WDW. Looks like my son can have lots of fun!

You can buy pressed penny "books" at the various shops in WDW ... they are $6-7. If you don't see them ask at the register.

The books hold 36 *smooshed* pennies and 6 *smooshed* quarters.

There are penny presses scatter around the theme parks, at Downtown Disney and in the resorts. .. it cost 51¢ to press a penny and $1.25 to press a quarter.

My grandkids (7 & 9) love searching for the penny presses and collecting pressed pennies.

I save my change all year and have been layering two quarters then a penny (repeat) in the Mini M&M tubes to take with us ... a large M&M tube holds enough quarters and pennies to make 30 pressed pennies.

Heading to DW late Sept & kids can't wait to complete their "pressed penny" collection after finding this web site..

www.liss.olm.net/ec/disney/wdw/mk_checklist.html

It has a printable checklist of all the "pressed penny" machines throughout the park & resorts. Funny how this scavenger hunt has become one of their favorite things to do. If you do the math, it's one of the less expensive "souvineers" you can purchase and the kids will look at the coins more than any pictures or video.

My 3yo found out about these machines last October. She saw another child do it and wanted to start her own collection. We bought her a Disney pressed penny book at our resorts gift shop and she had alot of fun starting her collection. She brought the book on our Feb. trip and is looking forward to finding new pennies next Feb. Her grandparents also now of her collection and give her pressed pennies from any travels they come across having these machines. Lots of fun! ::MinnieMo

If you go to Guest Services at the Parks, they will give you a list that tells all the locations/designs at WDW. People sell pressed pennies online if you want to buy them, but its more fun pressing them yourself. -Steph

We were at WDW 7/12-19 with one of DD's goals being to get all the pressed pennies she wanted. (We saved pennies and quarters for months; rolled and ready to go!) We were somewhat disappointed that some of the machines (I'd estimate about 1/5th of them) were broken and not fixed during our stay. We learned that most of the problems were from people using the wrong coins and jamming the machines. The pressed penny books were EVERYWHERE! We saw them in every gift shop. The 4th floor Contemporary probably has the best selection of machines all in a row - that's a good place to get started!

I bought books at one of the disney outlet stores in March for .25 cents each. They were supposed to be for the series of quaters that were around for the 75 years celebration (or something like that), but they worked just as well for all of my pennies. I got the books I needed for less than 1/2 of what one of the regular Penny books would have cost. I think they change the designs to cordinate to different promotions, etc, so they may have some at the outlets still.

What a great idea. We bought my 4 year old a pressed penny book and pressed 2 pennies, but every other time we saw a machine we either had no pennies or no quarters! Then when we had the coins--no machine! Luckily we'll be back again!

My kids had a ball finding those penny machines when we went last March. When I told them we were going again, the first thing out of their mouths was how excited they were because they could finish filling up their penny books. It always amazes me how small things like that can bring so much joy to kids. I had so much fun watching them get those penny's and I can't wait to do it again. Have Fun!!!

The Disney Stores don't have pressed pennies, but lots of other places do, besides WDW and the theme parks.

We are near Chicago and have found pennies at McDonalds, Rainforest Cafe, all the local museums, local zoo, etc.
