Has anyone ever tried those glue and press on nails you buy in a drug/grocery store? If so, how long did they last? Any tips on what to buy/how to make them last? For fun, I thought I'd buy some and last night I put them on. Not bad! But then, in less than 24 hours, 3 of the 10 have come off. One kind of got pulled off when I put something in the trash, but the others just came off. I used 2-3 drops of the glue per nail. Did I maybe not use enough glue? Right now, I'm very disappointed with how long they (don't) last. Is this normal?

The last time I used them was years ago and they didn't work well at all ... no matter how much glue I used, they still wouldn't stay on ...

I use them. DSis is the QUEEN of glue on nails(Broadway is the best) and I usually have her do them for me. She spends as much time working on them as you would expect in a regular salon and by the time she is done, they look even better than salon work! SHe usually uses 2-3 drops, but swirls the glue around so that it really covers the fake nail. When she applies it, she makes sure it goes under the nail bed slightly and she pushes down and out for about 30 seconds to make sure that it stays in place and gets the air bubbles out. Sometimes we paint them, sometimes we leave them be. If she does them, they usually last me about a week...pretty good for a $5 box of nails!

when I used to use these I buffed my nails before applying the glue, it seemed that the glue held better to a rough surface, not sure why but it seemed to work for me. I haven't done these in years tho, it's probably been 20 years since I did glue on nails. :)

Once upon a time, I used them. They didn't work well. When I used glue on nails, I found they were destroying my real nails. So I stopped using them.

I've never had good luck with press on nails. Even if I poured all the glue onto one nail, they still wouldn't stay on.

i second the broadway ones! i used to wear them while working at walmart, which for me meant ripping into boxes to put stock on the shelf...basically abusing the heck outta my hands. they never came off. i even did a set of them up with tthe wedding decals on them for my wedding in 99. they would of lasted a bit longer if the salt water in jamaica hadnt eaten the glue off! lol they held up for about 4-5 days, then by the end of our honeymoon i believe they were all off.

i also have wide nail beds, and find the broadway ones have a lot to choose from in one pack size wise, 10 for each hand i believe? ive tried others when i worked in the cosmetics dept at w/m and they've been cheap, looked cheap and didnt cover my real nail.

Broadway Nails work great they will last me 7 to 10 days if I take care with my hands, you have to rough up your nail with a file put a drop of glue on your fingernail and a drop on the fake nail then hold it in for a good little while. Oh and the real short ones last longest as opposed to the longer lengths. If I use them I just keep a few sizes and the tube of glue in my purse to fix any pop offs. If you do them right they can look almost as good as salon done nails and cost very little and I don't have to sit for over an hour in the salon, whereit's stinky and I feel like people are talking about me and I have no idea what anyone is saying.

i get a TON of compliments on my nails and people are shocked to hear they are not real. Broadway Nails rock! i have been using them every two weeks for almost 2 yrs now. buffing does work best and spreading glue on your nail and the the nail tip works best. I highly recommend the "real short" ones as it is a practical and every day living length but are not short by any means. They paint up beautiful too! i can usually get two uses out of one box so it only cost me about $5-6 a month, compared to $24 a month i was paying for manicures that never lasted. It is great to be done with your nails and not worry about chips or smears.
I originally found out about these from a lady sitting next to me on a flight home from MCO. She was putting them on right there on the plane.she let me try one on. When we landed, i went right to the drug store and bought my own. The key is using the right nail for the right finger. I never use the "thumb" nails they give you; use the next smaller size, it fits better and looks better. One of the side benefits is my real nails have been growing longer underneath and i could not get them to grow before.
